Accolades to Robin and all Small Paws Rescue people. I became a very small part of this group and it has been very rewarding. I became a foster mom to a 5 year old puppy mill dog, he lived in a wire cage his entire life. He was fearful, untrusting, anxious, and seemed to be a bit aggressive toward people, especially men. I named him Rocky (for the rocky rd he had been down) he bonded with my Bichon quickly. I adopted him so he would have a forever home, he bonded with my other Bichon and they are very close. He's a real love and is among my treasures in life. Please, don't buy a puppy, save one that needs a home - you will be blessed with a true friend.

Thank the Lord above for people like these folks who speak for those without a voice!!
I have had some of these Bichons, mill pups and owner releases in my home, and I am a better person for having them here!
Great job! Keep on keeping the word out!

I am the proud owner of three rescues from Small Paws. No one will tell you that adopting a puppy mill dog is the easiest way to go but everyone will tell you how rewarding it is. Once they learn what it means to be a pet and to be loved, they return that love ten times over. They are the most precious little creatures on this earth. I had always purchased puppies my entire life until I joined Small Paws Rescue--now it will be adopting mill dogs forever. It's the only way to go.

My rescue puppy mill dog from Small Paws Rescue has quite a story. His name is Tennessee Tommy. If you google the words Tennessee Tommy you can read his amazing escape story and also read about Robin Presnall and how devoted she is to bichon rescue. She is truly a wonderful human!

As usual, find a scapegoat and spread rumors and vague charges. The alarmists have found a word that resonates for them and its called puppy mill. There are many, many pet breeders that raise puppies under healthy and sanitary conditions. If you buy a pet from a pet store you have a guarantee.

Thank you for your story on Small Paws Rescue and the horrors of puppy mills. I have adopted a senior dog from SPR and he is a joy. I also have had the pleasure of fostering a dog while he waits to be adopted. I make blankets to send to the ones that are adopted since each dog gets his own blanket. It is so sad to hear the stories of what some of these dogs have had to endure.

Hopefully you will do some research and realize your lack of knowledge about the horrific conditions in puppy mills. Yes, there are many, many responsible pet breeders. There are also hundreds of dogs euthanized everyday in shelters that fail to get adopted. The guarantee from a pet store doesn't help the parents of the puppy who are doomed to live in a tiny cage mass producing more puppies in their own waste on wire cage floors that damage their paws.

I drove 500 miles to get my first dog from a AKC breeder because I wanted to get a healthy dog from a honest person. What I found out 6 months later is that she ran a puppy mill in the back of her property. My little fluff has had numerous surgeries and she as allergies. I found Small Paws on the internet as I was looking for answers and I have since adopted from them and became a volunteer. Thank-you Robin and all the organizations that are helping to stop this cruel treatment of animals. God Bless.

The definition of "Oracle" is "wise person" and it is obvious you are not. You are ignorant concerning the facts about puppymills and I suggest you become educated on the subject.
Yes, many pet stores guarantee their puppies but not many people will return a puppy after they have fallen in love. The pet stores are counting on that. If the customer does return a puppy the pet store will kill it and give the customer a new puppy, which could be just as sick as the first one. I say "stop the selling of inbred and sick puppies for greed and stop the suffering of the parent dogs in the mills."
I have been involved in fostering adult mill dogs for many years...many are so damaged emotionally they will never be "normal" but they deserve to live out their remaining years with love and dignity.

Rescue and adopt...don't buy.

There was a spot on The Ophfra Winfrie show last week about these concentration camps for dogs run by sadistic inhuman Hitlers and PolPot types, since it is dogs and other animals suffering, the legislatures and other governing bodies turn a blind eye. Most of these puppy mills are run by red neck white trash trying to pick up a quick buck, they need to be stamped out by "the good guys" as soon as possible just like The Nazis and Cambodian Communists were stamped out in WWII and during the fall of communisim!

Below are pictures of dogs who came from USDA inspected commercial kennels with AKC registrations.

These certainly aren't rumors and vague charges.

A picture says 1000 words.

Surely you don't condone the inhumane treatment of companion animals as shown here in these pictures?

Webster's defines the word "scapegoat" as, a: one that bears the blame for others b: one that is the object of irrational hostility.

The word "Scapegoat" certainly does not apply here.

My situation is such that I cannot be an active volunteer in SPR. If you are like me and wonder what you can do to contribute; go to wwww.smallpawsrescue.org and you will find ways to help. A donation no matter how small is always needed - and coming up very soon is the annual SPR online action. It is fun to participate by bidding on terrific items and all proceeds go to rescue these wonderful creatures! Thanks to Robin and every last volunteer who make these rescues happen.

We admire greatly the work that Small Paws, and other rescue groups are doing. Robin Presnall, the Executive Director, and many Small Paws volunteers, from all over the USA and some foreign countries, work tirelessly to save these dogs.
We have three rescue dogs, including one puppy mill rescue that was five years old when we got her, and a "breeder" for the mill. We have now had her for more than two years and she STILL does not trust any men, including my husband, though we are gentle and kind to her. She is getting better, but it's very slow improvement. Those animals live terrible lives and don't ask to do so. Our other two are rescues but from different situations and not mill rescues. They are both sweet and happy dogs.
Check out SmallPaws.org and other rescue websites and see some of the awful situations many of these dogs come from.
Please support rescue groups, either by adopting those dogs that need homes, or financially. If you can afford to do both, please do. It's a very rewarding endeavor.

I adopted Missy 2 years ago from Small Paws Rescue
and it is so heartwarming to watch her play with
her brother Bailey. Small Paws has done such a
wonderful job and although she is still a bit timid we took her to Florida for the winter and
she mixed with other dogs at a dog park and with
friends during gatherings. She is a completely
different dog now and she has so much love to give. We bought our other dog from a breeder
and did a lot of investigating first. He is
great dog and loves Missy. Please check your
rescue groups and adopt a pet that needs a
forever home.

The way these puppy mills are allowed to treat animals must be stopped. We need laws to change this horror. Thank you for your story on Small Paws Rescue. Please continue your coverage of puppy mills.

Thank you for highlighting the SmallPaws Bichon Rescue, and even more for focusing on the 'puppymill' problem; in light of the 'OPRAH' show, maybe you would be interested in doing an investigative report on the inadequacy of the USDA to enforce their own rules and regulations, and the loopholes through which many of these production breeders leap with such impunity. Unfortunatly there are many production breeders also raising large breed dogs; Golden Retrievers, Bernese Mt. Dogs, Australian Shepherds, German Shepherds, Dobermans... if it has 4 legs, barks at one end and wags at the other they will find a way to market it, all with the 'blessings' of our own United States Department of Agriculture. And those that are not licensed or regulated by Federal laws are frequently not regulated or licensed by State regulations either. Those pretty pictures you see on the internet when searching for 'puppies for sale' is not what is really happening behind the scenes. Caveat Emptor. Do your homework, buy from a reputable breeder.
