If they are allergic to wireless internet and cell phones due to electro sensitivity, that would mean eliminating tv and radio signals as well. We would pretty much have to eliminate everything that sends a signal. That just isn't possible. I can't tolerate pollen or dust well. Asking the city to ban it legally isn't logical. I just do the best I can to avoid it. My advice is to avoid those areas during hours that the use may be high. I understand their concerns but their request isn't reasonable.

Is this a ploy to make fast cash from the city? Every one is looking for a free ride any more.

Wow. I've heard some doozies, but allergic to wireless radio?

Let's put this guy in a room, turn the wireless signal on and off in another room, and see how well he can "feel" it.

Anybody want to bet that all those wackjobs live in town? If your "allergic" to all this, you should be living in a mudhut without any electricity, running water or any other utility. Oh, and miles from any civilization. What a fricken joke!

So, do 2.4 Ghz phones bother them as well? Same frequency band(s)..

They sound like a buncha camera-whoring douches to me.

He's just jealous because he doesn't have a laptop. He isn't able to look cool typing away in a chat room hoping to pick up on some girls. LOL

I always think these people don't want the rest of us to have any fun. They don't want us to smoke, even on our own property, wear perfume, plant junipers or now have wi-fi. I think they need to move to a mud hut somewhere closer to the Taos hum.

Wow I am so glad I don't live in Santa Fe anymore-kinda makes me ashamed to be born and raised there. I think we have regulated enough behaviors and tendencies in this country-Somehow I think Thomas Jefferson in wildly rotating in his grave over all of this.

Now THAT'S funny!! Even funnier than this ludicrous story. Is it me or are people getting weirder and weirder? How can you be allergic to a signal? What's the real story here? I cannot believe these folks are serious. They need a real problem to worry about. Thanks Richard for the laugh!

It's probably not an allergy in the traditional sense. But if you are overexposed to microwaves, you will become sensitized. Radio and TV signals are safer, because the lower frequencies don't penetrate the skull as well (see A. Frey, 1962). I stopped using cordless phones too,
and some of them definitely affect me.
Don't say its a joke until you've done the research. Check out

And I'm severely allergic to stoooopid people breathing oxygen, but you don't see me trying to get a piece of silly legislation passed in order to ban them from the publik domain.

I think they need to prove the low power-frequency is causing them harm.
Radio has been around for years.
Same range of frequencies.
I bet they play their radios while driving, and talk on their cell phones that are using microwave frequency.
Does a airplane flying over cause them pain?
They should learn how radio works before they claim it alone is causing them any kind of malady.

Amen! Another Democrat that doesn't comprehend just where the $$$ come from. If he can pass a double-blind study as to his sensitivty to these 'waves' than maybe we can consider. Beyond that.... get off the public pay roll and go make a living. Better yet jerk - go get a copy of 'Ayn Rand'- "Altas Shrugged" The tax payers won't pay you to read it but those tax payers that do read it for the 1st time will understand. The time is close at hand.
