And farther down the tubes America goes. If you don't want to respect the flag, honor the men and women who have fought and died for it and don't pledge allegiance to the flag and our country, then get the he-- OUT!!

It's ALREADY uncontitutional to require the pledge, which in nothing more than a socialist loyalty oath to our communist government. I'm a vet and I didn't fight for "the flag" - I fought for FREEDOM. The flag used to be a symbol of freedom but not in the modern U.S.S.A. where we lose freedoms daily. I wouldn't wipe my *** on that fascist rag.

Those students are born and raised by White Aethist families, who have no respect for American freedom and religion. They should just get the h/e/l/l out of this country and live in North Korea or Cuba with their Communist and Socialist families. I hope the Public Education Department does not change the Pledge of Allegiance for the sake of our young and dedicated students.

Where did you fight in the war.. in the kitchen as a KP or rear echelon with the Supply Company or as a Company Clerk. I doubt that you fought on the front lines considering your s/h/i/t/t/y attitude towards our freedom of which some of us fought for.

Me, vote for the most Marxist president we've ever had? Hilarious! And hey, my sh** attitude is toward the LOSS of freedom that has occurred under our government during my lifetime, and the absence of freedoms we should have had all along but didn't. SO keep waving your flags while they regulate every aspect of our lives or come for us, one group at a time. It's you auhtoritarians who should be deported so we can reinstate the Consitution.
It will be mandatory

It is crucial for the public to have the opportunity to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at all times. However, I don't believe anyone should be FORCED to participate in the recitation.

If they refuse to cite the pledge, then they should not be allowed to receive the free education provided by the country that flag represents.

If you can read this, thank a teacher.

If you can read this in English, thank a soldier.

You idiots wasted your vote on Obammy. Our country is in real trouble from the Neo-Socialists (Democrats).

I think most people are more than happy to participate in reciting the pledge. I am. However, I am also glad that I live in a country where people can't be compelled to participate in this form of speech or any other at risk of punishment. Look at what is happening in Iran right now. People are dying because they have expressed an opinion about what is happening.

Doesn't it make it more meaningful to those who participate if they are doing so because they want to and not because they are trying to avoid a punishment?

Freedom is for everyone, even for those who don't agree with me or you.

Do you even know the words to the pledge of allegiance? There's nothing in the words that warrants your attack on the pledge. You're swearing an oath to a freedom loving country which has given you and everyone else standing on our soil the right to voice your opinions openly, freely and without threat. You should be thanking God, our forefathers, our military and your parents for breeding and giving birth to you in our FREE country.

Controversy over the Pledge of Allegiance is and will continue to be from "citizens" striving to enact the very spirit of what the pledge represents. Freedom. I may not agree with someones choice of what they should or should not be made to recite or pledge to, but they do that that priviledge.
I do believe our fore-fathers would be disappointed in how little commitment there is in this day and age, to their efforts and sacrifices for those freedoms.
