Coach Weis has brought in three top 10 recruiting classes and N.D. will begin to reap the benefits this year.

Soon, the reign of Tytanic & company will be nothing but a distant memory, except for U.W. fans.

Hey, first off...don't call us a bunch of brain washed catholics, in my opinion as an ND fan or not that isn't the point. I don't beat your door down for Lutheran or Baptist do I? Secondly if you don't like the article that is fine. I own a lot of things that have ND on them, like the hat I wear every day, win or lose. I've driven to South Bend for a game without a ticket, why because I am a fan. Don't go giving me this I'm brainwashed crap. How convenient. Now that he's posted a losing season we hear how it was all part of his plan.
He's been given alot more slack than Tyrone Willingham. Not sure why that is but it was with Tyrone's players that he was able to post a winning season. Now with "His"
players they have a losing record. You can't tell me he would not take the same record Pete Carroll had at SC given the opportunity. When you live in L.A. there's alot more opportunity for these players to find trouble.
When you live in South Bend, In. there's not too much opportunity for trouble or "Social Issues".
I would take Pete Carroll ten out of ten times....thank you.

I have always liked Notre Dame but for him to call USC a bunch of thugs and hoodlums just says that he is scared about losing his job and lashing out at an easy target. Im pretty sure Stanford doesn't recruit "Thugs and Hoodlums" when their academic requirements are similar to Notre Dame's and oh yeah Stanford beat USC last year at The Coliseum. He is just making excuses for a poor season and many poor seasons to come as long as he is the coach. Also is Jimmy Clausen stopped looking in the mirror and thinking about how great he is because he is of course the "Chosen One" then maybe they could beat Navy.

Ok, I know this is the Internet, but in the interest of trying to Keep It Sane...
(1) Stanford has a horrible football program. They were a 36-point 'dog and beat USC in a once-in-a-lifetime game. Don't hold that up as an example of a school that has high standards AND a decent football team. It doesn't wash.
(2) Nowhere does this article (or any other transcript I can find) mention USC by name.(If you can product evidence to the contrary, I'm willing to admit I'm wrong). So let's not make assumptions. I don't think they have a corner on "character issue" players.
(3) Not really a point of fact, but.. I just plain don't understand what the Jimmy Clausen comment means, or what it has to do with this. Again, I know this is the Internet, but try to stay on topic.

This sounds like when Jim Delaney followed up OSU's poor bowl performance vs. UF with that ridiculous letter saying how they do things differently up in Big 10leven country. Now, after a horrendous season, Weis is getting all sanctimonious as well. Pretending that at a school as football crazy as ND he is judging recruits on their football skill AFTER their huimanity and study habits? Come on. If that is true, domers will soon be looking wistfully back at 3-9 seasons.

Charlie the Crewcut - nd had a down year ever since Lou Holtz left, so keep complaining - I love it.
