The kids mother looked at it and laughed. She then got angry and called a white person a racist just because she was told to clean it up.

I grew up in a neighborhood that was all white. We had a private pool and had events for jr AAU; also the pool was used for people who paid dues in the summer. One summer, a few blacks and their mothers came to join. They actually had a nice recreational pool in 'their area' that was on their address. Basically, in so many words, they were saying we are here to take over. The wimpy whites left the pool only to join another in a nearby county. That was in the 80s. Today, the place is a mess as I drove by it. Trash was allover the fenced area and the pool was 100% black people, even the lifeguard that was reading a sports ill. magazine(against the law here where I live to read anything if you are a LG). Imagine if Phelps went there? Actually he wouldn't because the AAU does not have any more events and those small basketball goals are on the side of the 5ft section. Pot is his choice of drug and crack would cause him to drown. |

that actually happened in Bush Gardens. A black kid crapped in the large pool and cost BGW thousands to drain the large Water Country Pool. Not to mention many of the parent(s) had to take their kids to have blood work in case of a disease. True Story, but kept quiet. |

I was born and raised in Hanover. My family still resides there, so I visit frequently. I thought the town had evolved, but maybe I'm wrong.

I Have no idea why all the talk about our military on a thread, which is clearly about rascism, But I am retired military (medically 100%)after many years of service. I am proud to have servd my country and although I didn't support all of Bushes decisions they themselves could not take away from the dignity and integrity of my service.
As far as those children who were turned away from that pool, I watched it on the news and shook my head in shame. There is no way that it wasn't a clear display of rascism. This kind of action in todays society is apalling. I wonder how the majority of those people would feel or how outraged they would be had it been reversed. I hope that they sustain suitable punitive damages as a result of a lawsuit. I guess those in the area must feel real good about themselves about preventing a group of children from enjoying a summers day at a pool. One question that was never answered is how can they say it was private when they were allowed entrance and then asked to leave? So how can they say it wasn't rascism? I served in the military alongside all races, and I can tell you from multiple deployments, WE ALL BLEED RED. Did I mention I was White. |

Have you ever been ANYWHERE and a day camp shows up with 30+ kids? No matter what race the kids are, the atmosphere and complexion immediately changes. Whether it's the mall food court, a movie, a park, a playground, swimming pool, or even McDonalds, a group with a ratio of 8 kids to 1 "adult" brings chaos anywhere. Does this day camp even have that low of a ratio? What "fact" that all the white parents took their kids out and stood there with arms crossed? Were you there? Did you verify that any kids taken out of the pool were taken out because of race? I can tell you that if a large group of kids showed up at a pool, I'd take my kid out in a second if I felt it was unsafe. Unsafe not because of race, but because in a crowded pool, it's harder to maintain safety standards. The "fact" that some of the kids say they heard racial slurs doesn't make it true. Ever hear the story about the city councilman somewhere who claimed that a scientist talking about a "black hole" in space was being racist? The fact about what the president of the club said does not make it a racist statement. The word complexion means more than skin color. A private club that bans all day cares and day camps is not racist. |

It is prejudicial to say one is better than the others. I guess you don't claim Asian or hispanic Gangs of being the best product of your heritage, or do you. You want to peg yourself as better than another race , perhaps it would be better you clean up your own back yard, first. Unfortunately your ignorance is a result of niether having traveled outside of the U.S. or just plain being uneducated. I worked for a tanning company back in the late 70's "Hoyt & Worthing" out of Haverhill , MA. they had plants in Haiti and theswimming pools were state of the art for the time. I will also tell you that I worked with many Hatians and people from the Dominican Republic and they were very welcoming and friendly people. |
