Now, maybe we can get some real news, not the liberal, tabloid garbage we get on a daily basis.

Maybe now we can get some objective reporting. Maybe we can get two sides of many issues. Three El Pasoans in recent years have won world, national and state titles in the shooting sports. Didja read anything at all about these events in our ultra liberal rag? Nary a word was written here about them, but always a ton of crap written about the suffering colonias, ballet folklorico, the sufferings of our "sister city" ad infinitum. I feel as though I'm living in occupied Mexico whenever I pick up the Times. I refuse to buy it and only read online.

Best of luck to you. Your paper has been an important part of our lives for many years. So much news, useful information, insightful opinions, and entertainment on our doorstep and now online too. During your reign the evolution of your paper has been amazing. You've done a good job. I wish you nothing but the best in whatever lies ahead for you.

Thank you, for sharing with me, on that plane trip from Austin to El Paso, about San Elizario, Texas.
Best to YOU.

Maybe now we can get an editor that is an El Paso native and knows the true beat of our city. Ramon Bracamontes, Diana Washington Valdez & Leticia Zamarripa come to mind. The El Paso Times has nowhere to go but up. Give us back our hometown paper.

Let's get a native English speaker and stop the foolish headlines and non-edited, illiterate, incoherent articles. In other words let's get and editor that edits and does the job he's paid to do.
Thank You

why does the EP Times need an Editor? All they do is buy Associated Press articles and re-package them 2 days later as breaking news. The Business editor should be canned too. If it wasn't for the insurance and real estate company commercials, uppps, "people on the move", there would be nothing to report there.

This paper does almost zero investigative reporting. The whole city is committing fraud and we never hear about it.

If he does go to El Diario, maybe now El Diario's English advertising will get proof read. El Diario is on man's expensive journalism joke.

Yep, I couldnt beleive that the Sahara/Ready one story was written by a Portland newspaper. Where was Don then?, maybe with Bob Jones and the "Fine" county comisioners planning the future or our city.

Don, good luck to you. You have had your hands full in El Paso. I didn't personally meet you while I was in El Paso, but I knew people who dealt with you regularly. They said that you were a great guy to work with, and were amazed at what your job entailed.

Just one question, though. Who in the world writes the headlines for the news articles. They are almost embarrassing.

Good luck again!

If they find an editor anywhere near as good as Don was, they'll be lucky. I've known him for 34 years. He began his career as a fast-rising professional defender of the First Amendment, and he brought that to the El Paso Times since 1993.
This is a fine paper with a dedicated staff, diverse staff -- as anyone with real experience in journalism can tell. If you ever realized what it takes to put out those tens of thousands of words and dozens of photos each day, you'd be amazed.
Vaya con Dios, Dionicio Flores. You served this community and the profession of journalism well. Keep your voice strong, and keep the anti-First Amendment cucarachas frightened. I love to see them skitter and scurry when the newspaper confronts them.
A loyal friend,
Jim
