Every once in a while I must remind you folks;

Man created gods to explain what he could not.
Man created religion to control other men.

That is it in a nutshell.

I used to believe that and tout these beliefs, then I learned about the world around me and realized that all this could only be the result of a supreme being.

Chief, I took a look at the Abundant Living Faith Center's website. I liked what I saw. I agreed with everything that was written in the site. I believe my brother began attending this Church a few months ago. He said he has found his home. Good for him. If it brings him closer to Christ, then I will support his decision 100%.

It wasn't for me, for me simply of the design of universe is just too complex to be an accident.

I used to believe in a god, then I gained more knowledge on the subject, by seeking information through various churches, and then through education. The many years of taking theology classes convinced me that man indeed created the gods because he lived in fear of the unknown.

I mean, a lot of humans crumble under the thought that there is no purpose for your life here and that is why most turn to religion and are then told what to believe. Others can understand that yes everyone is insignificant and it does not give them fear or panic. I used to fear death and passing, but am at peace with it since I understand there is no heaven or hell, they are only tools used to control the thoughts and actions of others.

I have read the bible many times in many different interpretations and one class we even compared the different translations to each other to point out the differences. There are a lot of differences. Not just simple things either. It seems that the various religions choose the interpretation they are most comfortable with and ignore the real meanings.

If you look at history, the various churches have restricted who gains access to the original writings of the books of the bible and other documents that relate to the translation of the various books. They limit access so that the accepted interpretation of said holy works is not questioned. The various religions have also worked through history to limit access to knowledge in general so that the followers would not question the church. This is no different today, but with modern society it is not easy to keep knowledge out of the hands of the people. This is why more people are questioning the existence of gods and the way religion hinders society. What happens in the Islamic countries is not new, nor is it restricted to islamic cultures. Keeping people uninformed and illiterate is good for all religions so people don't ask too many questions.

Knowledge is the enemy of all religions.

A lot of us CAN and do understand that it is not that complex and follows an ordered set of rules. Things happen all the time that some would think is the hand of a god, but others know the explanation for. Back 100 years ago, the cell phone would appear to be mystical and a tool from the gods or devils with no explanation as to it's inner workings. The christians would burn you at the stake for possessing one since they would not understand it so it MUST be the work of the devil. This is the same argument used today. It is far too complex for my untrained brain to understand so god must have made it...

For me it's, everything is continually evolving, I would think a all knowing god would of gotten it right the first time. Billions of years cuts down on the odds of chance. Life changes to fit its environment. The universe is to complexed to be designed

living things do adapt to their environment, but there has to be an environment to evolve in, Even Richard Dawkins is open to the Idea of a designer.
