And a mighty good post from you!:)
If that was an Irish or Canadian flag you wouldn't be saying these things. Your disdain for anything foreign is obvious. Sucks to be you because our multicultural future is unavoidable. Ahhh, if only we could have the good ol' days when white was right. Evolve or perish.

The problem is that this is a he-said, he-said incident with no other witnesses. So we don't know really who is telling the truth.
You don't need witnesses when the flag is in the trash can. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out whose story is more believable.

I would like to know how the presidential candidates would feel about this. Like an earlier poster said, it's now , by law, O.K. to burn or urinate on an American flag. A mexican flag in the trash should not be an issue.

You don't get it.
If you as an American citizen choose to urinate or burn your flag, it is ok. It's been done before many times. This is different. Someone ELSE takes your flag or a flag that you consider "dear to your heart" and throws it in the trash can---big difference.

While you're at it, you might teach the rest of them English, so we don't have to waste our time with English-Spanish bilingualism.
If I want to learn another language, I'd greatly prefer Japanese, thank you.
Learn all the Japanese you want.
Thanks to my son learning Spanish, he was able to land a good government job right before turning 18.
Thank God for bilingualism!!!
He doesn't have to flip burgers like the rest of his classmates who only know English.

Haven't ou seen the news? Many of the soldiers that die every week are Mexican American. Maybe there grandparents or parents illegally immigrated here. Why dont you look at that? I know that would require you to actually think and that seems to be hard for you.
And Americans, of all races and ethnicities, are being killed as well but they did so under the flag of the United States not Mexico.

This story reeks of yet another get rich scheme. For those that do not live in areas when the tension in the schools are at an all time high, the teacher was right in trying to avoid the situation getting out of hand. Putting the kids Mexican flag in the trash is not the worse thing that could have happened.Could the kid not just get it out? What rights of his were violated?

Cinco de Mayo, isn't widely celebrated in Mexico, only here, they try to make a national display of it.

Again, no different than St. Patties Day for the Irish. It's an American holiday celebrating Mexican-American heritage, no more no less. Why this teacher had to put his flag in the trash is a mystery to me. I can understand not wanting distractions in the classroom, but he could have gone about it entirely differently. The fact that he didn't speaks volumes.

I wonder what would happen to an American waving an American flag in a Mexican classroom on the 4th of July.
Hell, try raising an American flag or an American flag during a Mexico-US soccer match in Mexico.
Better yet, try raising an American flag in a Mexican bar in the US during a US-Mexico soccer match.
I got one better try wave an American flag in LA in the USA and the Mexican will beat the crap out of you in your own back yard.

Exactly. What you won't see Mexicans do is go back to their Mexico and do something for it. They are letting their own country collapse, they destroyed it, and now demand to be given ours.

The May 1 protestors are nothing but a bunch of pathetic losers waving their Mexican flags here in this country and meanwhile do nothing to improve Mexico. Just a bunch of sell-outs when it comes right down to it, all they really care about is American money and government handouts.

More than likely, had the teacher not taken any action and the child was assaulted because of his Mexican flag, the school would have been sued for failure to protect the child........

Throw the family some money.....that will make them feel better while it will only serve to increase tensions in this country. Give him the US Flag to throw in the trash, after all, disrespecting the US flag is the norm.

From Las Cruces, New Mexico, where religious prejudice is a commodity and export using tax money.

Just another example of a culturally ignorant coach doing whatever he felt like.'Cain't touch me, I'm a coach.' Here we have had a reported spate of 'your daughter-diddlers.'

Also here at NMSU the head coach kicked players off the team because he didn't like their religion and the players wouldn't join his prayer groups. The 'university' paid out a lot of money and gave him a raise.

And in another case of the "culturally ignorant" a
veteran was prosecuted for removing a Mexican flag left flying for 3 days without the American flag anywhere in site. This was after he went to the school and ask them to fix the situation and they didn't.

More displays of NM allegiance to Mexico?

First, the teacher had the right to confiscate and later return the child's property. If a bunch of Americans went to Mexico their kids would have no right to education, much less the right to be waving their flag around in their schools. This is just basic diplomacy and if the visitors to our country don't get it they are certainly welcome to go home.

What's funniest about these proud Mexican patriots like this one with his flag, when they are deported they suddenly lose all that patriotism to Mexico and start squealing like little pigs how scared they are to returned to that country they were claiming to love.

We need to quit messing around. Any Mexican pretending to be a proud patriotic Mexican but living in and mooching off the USA simply needs to be provided a free ride back home.

"Good Government job"? Isn't that an oxymoron? What's the matter, he couldn't he hack it in the private sector? Or have you raised him to be dependent on others rather than be competitive and individually strong? Government employees produce nothing and eat up tax money. Some are necessary, but most are just a drain on the economy.

For all of those comparing this to St Patrick's Day consider this: One day a year many people (some of Irish heritage and some who are not) wear green and fly the Irish flag. The rest of the year they fly the American flag and call themselves Americans. Contrast that with those flying the Mexican flag every day and calling themselves Mexican (rather than American) year round. That is the difference. If these groups would as proudly proclaim the fact that they are Americans first few would have any problems celebrating their heritage WITH them.
