The tale of Christine Radogno and Her Fruitless Motion best illustrates why this is such an important week in our state Capitol.

Wouldn't it make sense for the Democrat Party to ask the GOP senators who they feel would be the best fit among the proposed Democrats to replace Emil? I would think that it would just be common sense to see who the Republican senators feel that they will best be able to work with across the aisle? Am I wrong in this well-intentioned suggestion, Eric?

The Democrats can always disregard what the Republican senators suggest. I just thought that it might be a smart way to go about choosing a successor for Emil Jones. They don't need another Emil Jones to fill the vacant slot. That was a disaster for both Democrats and Republicans (and the citizens of Illinois).

Don't worry. B.O. will "appoint" the next Senator. After all, he is for "change" and "hope" and all that good stuff. So whoever can put change in B.O.'s pocket, can hope to get the seat.

Jones is NOT a leader. Jones would not represent me. He is just a politician.

We could have voted to hold a Constitutional Convention and written an Illinois Constitution that would have stopped this ridiculous stuff from happening, but thanks those who thought incorrectly that they would lose their pensions, it didn't pass. So now we are going to be stuck with the same government that does not work for the people.

As reported on WGN News last evening, the State of Illinois is substantially behind on making payments to contractors. The example used was daycare providers, many of whom are small home-based businesses. They exist month-to-month and cannot afford to wait 3 more months to be paid. This has the makings of a major crisis.

Eric, have you seen this report? It appears the State is $300M behind in payments and Treasurer Giannoulias says it will be at least 3 months before vendors can be paid. Giannoulias stated that he's asked Blagojevich to get State Legislature moving on appropriations, but so far there's been no movement.

Does it surprise you that we're hearing about this now, two weeks after the election?
