Regarding Bonnie's comments about "we continue to build without understanding" and "determine what we need to protect and what development is appropriate".

Bonnie - both excellent thoughts. Maybe we need laws to protect open spaces from development? Maybe we need laws to protect our forest preserves from development? Maybe you are WRONG in proposing to build a 15,000 seat Olympic Stadium and an indoor stadium and numerous other buildings of undisclosed size in our forest preserves? You should look into your obligations as Forest Preserve Board President to see what YOU can do to protect Lake County. You currently back a plan which would destroy Lakewood Forest Preserve through the aforementioned construction. If you want to save Lake County, first start with preserving the forest preserves. That is among your first priorities. So when you speak of uncontrolled development; look what plans YOU are backing first and fix those. I agree with you on one thing, we must limit development. We do seem to disagree however in that you feel it is appropriate to build Olympic size facilities in forest preserves, and me and many more feel that is wrong. We paid tax money to PRESERVE our forest preserves; not to set them aside for future development as you are doing.

How about building a 150000 acre
lake and keeping it public. Put an end to this BS flooding AND have more water. There is already plenty of horse riding miles. How about giving us a place to ride dirt bikes, oh wait they ruin the envirement right?

Amen to you Larry! Furthermore, IF one is going to support any form of development, one might consider offering incentives to those who will build GREEN, and those who will get GREEN certified. There are many alternatives to traditional building materials that are effective and are less impact on the environment. There are mortgage companies that offer incentives to homeowners who build GREEN homes. Perhaps the Lake County Partners, along with Lake County themselves, can offer incentives to those who will build GREEN in Lake County. Perhaps a GREEN section should be added to the UDO for development in Lake County!! Oh, and PS, the County could even use such to its advantage as it build its new headquarters. How many of the Forest Preserve and County Buildings are GREEN certified, Ms. BTC? Ms. Schmidt?
