Devin Hester's idea not ridiculous, but his method sure is

Speed always has been the preferred method Devin Hester uses to make points. So hurry up and get to training camp, No.

Have you ever heard of dignity? It is not possible for someone who is giving the Bears there only offense in some games to come and take the chance of getting hurt physically why the Bears play money games. You should be analyzing the situation for what it is, not critiquing Hester's move. Hester should never have been put in this situation.

I agree, Joe. Hester had a phenominal rookie year. He's young and talented and the Bears should show their appreciation and willingness to keep him happy. They gave Urlacher a big fat raise, and doesn't he have back problems?

I agree as well back load the contract so it meets salary cap reqs if you are going to go for a veteran QB that gets cut or released from his team.

Better yet just play out the current contract they walk away from them penny pinchin asseholes in Lake Forest and sign with another NFC Central team and run it down the Bears throats twice a year!. Then when he's in the endzone look into the camera and say "Shoulda renegotiated with me when ya had the chance, huh Jerry???"

Devin Hester is dumb as a box of rocks. Do the Bears think that the coachs down at the U simply don't like to have really fast, agile wide-outs? I'm pretty sure they do, and I'm pretty sure there's a reason they didn't play Hester at WR. Learn to run some routes before talking about #1 WR money.

If players can ask for more money when they perform well even though they signed a contract, can teams ask for refunds or reductions in pay when players flop?

Isn't it sad that he can't live on $445,000.00 per year? It's all greed and these franchises have created it by paying players just way too much money. Pay for performance and not what they might do. Offer bonuses for each outstanding game.

They need to pay him & NOW. He was single handedly responsible for three W's last year. How many season ticket holders did he save. He's the difference in whether you renew to watch a 7-9 tem or a 4-12 team. He's what separates us from Ugh....Detroit.

I can't teach for $41,000 a year, maybe I should take up football instead. I'll play for $80,000. Where do I sign up?

Well the guy is dumb, but he can run, and he basically is the entire offense or the Bears, Maybe they are waiting to see what will happen with Favre?

da bears are becoming if not already the DUMB bears. Devon Hester DESERVES a BONUS in the millions and a 7 figure contract.

He is the ONLY reason that I watch them play now. Hoping that he catches the ball in ANY position, i.e. offense, run backs, even defense too! There's the AIR of threat when he touches the ball...ala sweetness, jim Mcmahon, gale sayers, dick butkus.

He IS a superstar and let's pay him what he's worth.

EVERY player that's carries a team renegotiates his contract....ask urlacher and others! Hester DESERVES a new contract. He's proven that he is NOT a one play or season wonder.

Pay him now!! The Bears paid a rookie draft pick what? Like $16 miilion this year with signing bonus? The defense guys got what they wanted--come on! He deserves this in a big way! Don't even compare what I make or you make to him--compare it to other players at his level. Oh wait--maybe that's the problem, no one else is at his level. He's what, one runback away from tying the NFL all time record,in only 2 years, a record that took 15 years to make?! PAY HIM NOW!!

Has anyone heard of "INSANITY", millions to play a sport. They are all good, the jocks in love with themselves or can anyone remember them in school. Oh yes, I was not a Geek, I was a player in three sports but at some time we all have to grow up and face reality. Let them all earn a decent salary so everyone can go to the games and pay a decent price for a ticket.

It's not about Hester being dumb - who even cares if he is? Dude can play! He deserves more money. Why is he a whiner? The guy is a play maker and although he wants what seems to us to be alot of cash, it's all relative to the amount that the greedy Bears owners pulls in every season. Hester is the most exciting player on the Bear's roster since Payton. Bears gotta pay him.

I thought Urlacher should hae shut up and played. He already had his performance based contract in place.

Hester has way outperformed what anyone, even the Bears who traded up to get him, thought he would do. He is legitimately underpaid and should have gotten a new contract before Urlacher.

That said, he should keep his complaints out of the media. Historically the Bears have been good about stepping up and rewarding performance and trying to retain their own draftees. His big payday is coming and there should be no need to hold out or complain to reporters.
