Why no cleanup & why aren't these crooks going to jail?

Just capping the violator cell? Why not dig it out and remove all the offending waste and send it to a permitted facility? If the cell wasn't permitted for that type of waste, chances are that the appropriate liners aren't in place for that type of waste so it may leach to groundwater.
The article also doesn't say anything about the groundwater monitoring now? Are they going to do regular inspections to make sure they are monitoring groundwater? Or did they require that the landfill submit the sampling results to the Env. Dept. so that they'll know they're doing it and can interpret the results?--because I'm sure the landfill folks won't know what they're looking at. This article poses much more questions than it answers. |

Why is the city's high paid environmental stooge not involved in this? Once again, top dollar being paid out for a do-nothing city- government job.

God only knows what's buried out there! People come in with loaded pickups and dump their trash in a pit which is quickly covered. |

This article DID NOT make it clear where this site is! This is not at Sandpoint Landfill. This site is just east of the Halfway Bar in Lea County, on the right side of 62-180 where the big dirt berms were erected a couple years ago. This Lea-Land Inc site is a specific haz-mat disposal location. Their rebuttal artical explains what happens when government agents change hands and make assumptions.

I'm sorry, I thought it was Sandpoint Landfill off the Hobbs Hwy. I didn't realize there was another site where civilians could dump refuse. Didn't a civilian complain about the dumping of asbestos which got them busted? |
|
Now that part I can't confirm, about who is allowed access to dump there, but a "civilian" could be anyone wanting to be annonymous, even a haz-mat demolition contractor employee who wishes to reamain unknown to the public. Or, maybe even a disgruntled employee...?

I assumed it was a resident of Carlsbad dumping household garbage who saw the asbestos being discarded improperly and complained. I see what you're saying though...makes more sense. |
|
apparently the annonymous civillian didnt get their facts straight before making an assumption! as for the concerned civillian I tend to lean more towards disgruntled employee, but we wont mention any names right amanda!!

|
oh and by the way only certain licensed contracted trucking companies are allowed to dump there!!
|
|
Most "Disgruntled" employees got that way due to liars in management, and bad business practices. Sounds like Amanda needs to video tape and call the state. Again. Lets fine them a few more million... Then we'll see who's "Disgruntled". |
