Report crime?
We gave the names of the kids that broke into our pet shop and stole animals, supplies, stereo equipment, etc....
We were told that they were questioned and denied doing it, needless to say, no suspects were taken into custody, nothing has been recovered. I guess they're (the thieves) laughing their butts off at CPD as well as us for not getting caught. Can you say KARMA????
Why would people waste thier time reporting crimes when nothing 'seems' to be done about it? Sure gives one a un-easy feeling about our community and those that 'protect' us.
Ok, I'll stop complaining.....couldn't help myself.

Oh come on, don't be mean, life's too short.
It doesn't matter what was taken, or from who. What matters is that whatever was taken didn't belong to whoever decided they wanted to steal it.
We work very hard for what we have at the shop, and for someone to break in my door in the middle of the night and take what I worked for really sucks. Especially the fact that the parents HAD to have noticed a bunch of new animals and things that didn't belong to their kid showing up one day.
It's just not fair. But that seems to be the kind of world we live in today I suppose...

This is probably the beginning of the silly comments. Just the way this site is.

My house was broken into in July. I know who did it and told the police. Nothing has been done as of yet.

The Fiesta concession was broken into in August. The two vandals attempted to steal the 50" plasma display. They broke it trying to remove it from the wall. The police have done nothing there either.

What about all of the surveillance you have there, I take it "they" had on a ski mask?

I was not able to go out there at the time and the DVR wrote over the pics.

I had a window shot out at the Cavern a few days ago. I have no intentions of calling the police and making a report. Total waste of time.

This stuff is gonna only get worse through the holidays. Only advise is lock your doors or buy a gun. Courtesy has some nice selections. I'm sick of these low lifes that have no respect or dignity for other people's property. Sorry for your losses Jungle Pet Shop and Mr. Light, I guess working at Furr's Cafeteria doesn't do much for these hoodlums.

Calling the CPD is a waste of time!!!
Instead they like the harass the innocent people, why because it's easier for them. Right Officer Fodge??

I hear ya Brad. It almost makes you wonder how nice it would be to have a few 'good' vigilante's roll into town to clean it up a bit.
I love living here and don't want to move since we all know there's trouble all over the place. For the most part, crime is minimal, you just hear about alot of it since it's such a small town.
I try very hard to be kind to everyone I come in contact with, whether it's at our shop or at the grocery store. That's why it bothered me so much when we were targeted and robbed. I guess a good way to say it, for a lack of better words, is that my feelings were so hurt that someone would do this to me.

Overall he not bad or crooked like some of the cops here but he sometimes can be way over his head. Try disputing something with him and he will just arrest you. He lacks tact. He's a good cop for the most part, just needs to work on his people skills.

I note that crime seems to be on the upswing here. But surely it is everywhere in the USA, with unemployment going into two figures? And that's just recent unemployment; they don't count you in the numbers after awhile. It's more like 20, not 10%.

And it takes a few years to get thrown out of your home when you can't make the mortgage payments anymore...and homelessness keeps getting higher...many believe that it's only just getting started. Well over a million homeless kids now.

This has been a long time coming, and it's going to be a long time gone. But the worst is not here, by far. It's relatively nice here, even though people occasionally shoot up my neighborhood with alarming sounding ordnance.

Srsly.

i am in no way condoning people who steal, but come on; the police aren't miracle workers. what should they do, arrest and convict people without legal proof?

We know that they aren't miracle workers, but they are the only option legally. Wish I could take law in my own hands with these punks. But until then, we're obligated to call the authorities, just to be safe on the legal side.

I had an incident once were I was sitting in my truck and a guy punched my side window out. It took every ounce of willpower not to shoot him as I had my gun on my side. I simply drove off and called the cops. They came to my house and took a report. I gave them the guys first and last name, home address, cell phone number, truck he was driving, and license plate number. I was told he would investigate it and that I could pick up a copy of the report in 3 business days. I waited 3 days and went down to get a copy of the report and there wasnít one. That cop was on graveyards that night so the dispatcher said that she would have him call me when he came on duty. At 2 AM he called. I asked about the report and he stated he hasnít been able to contact the guy so he hadnít filed the report yet to give him a few more days. I told him ok and that I would pick up a copy the following week. A week and 2 days later I went to pick up a copy and it still wasnít there. I asked to talk with his supervisor and he came out and spoke with me. I told him the story and he had dispatcher call him in to fill out the report. He arrived filled out the report, gave me a copy and nothing ever happened. A few weeks later I talked with a friend that knew the guy responsible for my window (and also witnessed the event) and he stated the cops never attempted to contact him or the guy that did the damage. Nothing ever came of it and I was out the $350.00 for a new window.

I so agree with what you are saying and couldn't have said it any better...

Your pet shop is amazing when I went there I was greeted by all a man, woman and a little girl... Every one was so nice and helpful even the little girl knew what she was talking about.. And the place is so clean, you all do a wonderful job..

I hate what they did to you all, it is just NOT right that criminals who do this have NO regrets unless they get caught in the crime and forced to do the time...

But I sure do hope you stay, and succeed in what you are doing I saw the care that you give to your animals, and there is a lot of LOVE in what each of you are doing...

Best wishes to you and your family always, Stay safe and please never give up, and let them losers win !!!!

You can count on me to be a repeat customer !!!! GREAT JOB THANK YOU....
