Just think what the 45 billon that went to one bank an 35 billon too another with each giving bonuses of 3 to 5 billon, an maney more did the same. would have done for low incom familes? an now they wont to insure 12 millon eligals. Its true the ninth district court ruled that its interpation is any one in america will be covered, not just citzens/

Budgets and priorities are unethical and immoral.

they're not using food stamps. they're using an EBT card. the state stopped using food stamps because these folks were "too embarrased" to use the food stamps. so the state issued them EBT cards that look very much like a debit/ATM card.
what a concept. lets not hurt the feelings of the welfare recipients. so now when they buy the most expensive items in the grocery store they just look like regular consumers. what's next - delivering the food right to their apartments so they don't have to stop watching soap operas. unreal. how about anyone using food stamps must buy from a state run grocery store. one that uses only private labels and the cheapest items. think how much the state could save. but - i'm sure it would violate some civil right. so @#$%can that idea. |

One in eight Vermonters on food stamps and Pete Shumlin wants to evict Vermont Yankee. Tell us Pete how that is going to increase household income in the state or God forbid lower our tax burden.
Again it is about telling the truth not income?
Yes, There will always be people living off of the government. But when the government creates the poverty(evicting VY)and then offers to "help" the victim (jobs harvesting grass), that's when it is time to take a stand against government interference. Government is overstepping its bounds and little by little Vermonters are beginning to see that. |
Government Welfare and entitlement programs are like an addictive drug; once the people get on them, you can't get them off.
you think Shumlin really cares about Vermonters ?? he only cares about himself and going against big business. he thinks putney is an idealic america. he needs to wake up . |
I believe it's America and not america. Conservatives say America, while liberals say america. If you don't believe me just take a listen to President Obama's speeches to the United Nations. |
Wow! When did VT "evict VY"??? How did I miss that?? Inventing scenarios and then ranting as if they are real is meaningless. |
I believe it's a typo, myself. Funny you missed "idealic", which isn't even a word. But nice job turning a non-issue into a opportunity to babble. |
It's plain to see most of the posters here are nicely employed with plenty of money to buy food. You're always the ones whining about how much money it costs to keep people from starving.
And FYI VY isn't the only, or even the biggest, employer in VT. They just want you to think they are. Funny how you don't complain when people freak out every time a new business wants to open anywhere. |
I find that the people who talk like you are actually the ones who would jump at the chance to not work and often don't pay their bills on time, and are projecting their jealousy. Of course if you actually were in that position you might just know what it's like instead of babbling all these cute little empty cliches. |
anyone who receives food stamps should be drug-tested? why not?
Back when I was starving the food stamps saved me a few times. micro popcorn, store donuts, pop tops and all that luxury gourmet foods but the store would let me get beer and butts on the side so food was slim but the buzz lived on.

Essex, VT |
Your last sentence doesn't make much sense to me, but I will address what I think your point may be. IBM is the largest PRIVATE sector employer in VT with an average of 7000 workers While Vermont Yankee employes 600. IBM annual payroll aprox 350 million and VY is 46.6 million. IBM pays 6 million in property taxes while VY pays 6.3 million in state and local taxes (couldn't find an apple to apple comaprison on taxes). So if I understand your statement correctly, my answer is this; Vermont cannot afford to loose either IBM or VY. Especially with 1 in 8 Vermonters recieving food assistance. I would welcome other major companies into the state. A large centralized business such as IBM and VY creates small business opportunities that support those large businesses. Vermont made a big mistake with C&S. |

Shumlin will probably work hard to get rid of all low income families in vermont - you know, so the state is full of just uppity assh'les like himself.
won't have to worry about foodstamps at all. Everyone will earn too much to qualify and those who don't will go park themselves in Massachusetts. |
I get it, you're attempting to use satire aren't you? |
Better yet, euthanize them! Why not? Why make productive people pay to support losers? And the President wants to give these people health care? I think not! |
