Does anyone really want the federal government to run the U.S. health care system?

Are you including your 'johns' in that category?
(Oops, I think you refer to them as 'patients'.)

Here's and idea. Let's see how well the government does with GM for a couple years and then decide about health care.

If you substitute the government for the private sector for any service, you can pretty much double the cost. I know I am exaggerating but the premise is true.

I laugh at claims that Medicare operates efficiently. Do not confuse federally mandated payment schedules with efficiency. Just dictating what the gov't will pay for medical does not reduce cost. However, add in the bureaucracy and red tape that gov't brings and real costs will go up.

The key is to be relentless in opposition to Mr Obama and his minions. They only truly represent about 10% of American people, but have pretended to be moderate and fooled many of us.

The good news is many of us Democrats have realized what a fraud he is, and combined with independants and republicans we can ensure Mr Obama doesn't do too much damage.

Why wait?
How well does the U.S. Postal Service perform?
(Remembering, of course, that in the 1920's, the norm was to get mail delivery TWICE DAILY!
Is the U.S. Post Office in the black?
Are either Medicare and Medicaid in the black?
How well-managed ere Veterans hospitals?
If one had a choice would one prefer treatment from an Albany Medical Center or Berkshire Medical Center or from the local Veterans Hospital?
How well has the dispensing of Swine Flu vaccinations by the federal government been proceeding?

Double the cost?
You're dreaming.
Anything government-run is more like a factor of TEN times the cost.
You've heard of $400 toilet seats, have you not?
Who do you think is going to be paying for those 111 (One-Hundred Eleven) additional federal bureaucracies created by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid if ObamaCare passes?
Each bureaucracy is going to require a salaried six-figure administrator along with layers of management personnel (and all due to get cushy federal pension benefits).
Any possible theoretical savings that could be realized by government 'bulk-buying' is going to be offset by a factor of 10 to pay for all the added bureacracies and patronage jobs.
And it all will be coming out of taxpayers.
You.

Omigod, you're RIGHT!
The real me has been revealed!
What I should have asked is:
Is the U.S. Post Office in the dark?
and,
Are either Medicare and Medicaid in the dark?
To those questions, the answers are pretty obvious.
(Does that satisfy the requirements of the race police?)

<quoted text>no. this guy: How is the wife?
The heckler who confronted Gov. Dukakis at a Tyringham parade on Saturday and accused the governor of being "a crook" had a brush with the law himself nine years ago.
Glenn M. Heller, whose verbal assault on Dukakis was captured in a dramatic Associated Press photograph distributed nationally, was found guilty in 1980 by a federal jury of price gouging at his Beacon Hill Gulf gas station.
Heller, who now lives in the Berkshire town of Monterey, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and given a $9,450 fine
Already you were told that the wife in the 1980's matter wasn't mine, but rather another guy's.
She merely sought TLC after being slugged one too many times by her violent hubby.
It's comforting to know that with a narcissist megalomaniac in The White House, with the western world on the verge of war with Iran, with Islamicists going nuts at Fort Hood and all over the globe, that all a seething Liberal Democrat like you can focus on is a series of decades-old inconsequential personal and political events.
You Liberal Democrats are exhibiting every day just how wacky and petty you truly are.
And you're the people who want to determine who shall get health care and who shall not?

So Capn'Crunch lives in Monterey?

I do have to agree, the Medicare system is a mess. Might be better to fix that first in order to free up the dough to do the right job in Afghanistan.

i agree.
let's leave the health care industry alone. they're doing a fine job of managing themselves. the never put profit before people. everyone in the U.S. has top notch health care, regardless of their their financial situation. no one's ever cut off from or denied coverage for having a pre-existing condition. no one in the health care industry has EVER made a decision that has negatively affected or ended a life.
everything's perfect. why change it?

Or how about renewing your driver's license or tag (license plate).?

Ya, let's let the government into MORE of our lives...

That will be a BIG help [/sarcasm]
