i cant remember seeing a team have this much fun. really its so fun to watch, i went to almost every game this year and i had got my moneys wroth, all the come back wins and the cluth hits has been so much fun.
hitting dont win ball games no more (thank god for the testin now)
if you have good pitching you are going to win games. and teams like the o's, tampa bay, A's, Angels, Clv are proving that. i think its a new era in baseball and them teams are going to win more now because of it

This is great fun and I hope it lasts a long time. But, the truth is we are a cleanup hitter and two starting pitchers away from being competitive over the long haul.

The past two days have been the most fun I've had as an O's fan in 10 years. Only a fool wouldn't love it.

Seeing Payton hit that ball out turned me into a kid again; it was that beautiful.

Go Danny, Go!

Great article Peter, once again. The excitement on this team is infectious, and if you can't get behing them (or the direction the team is headed) then you are not an Oriole fan.

I had more fun @ the Yard yesterday then I have in years. GO O's!

There is nothing cheesy about that video. That is what Orioles baseball is all about. That is the stuff that kids need to say. It's about having fun! Amen! Finally!

I'm happy for the boys! Living here in Seattle...as a Baltimore transplant..I'm sticking with my Birds. I spent about 15 minutes interviewing George Sherrill in Fort Lauderdale on the first weekend in March for my radio station. We're the flagship for the Mariners and I wanted to get some 'post-trade ponderings' from George. What I came away with from that session was an impression of a guy who is humble and nice...yet in every way confident in his ability to get batters out. Sherrill is the kind of person any Oriole fan would enjoy talking with. He's a working-class, down-to-earth fellow whom I predict will end up becoming one of the all-time Oriole favorites...and the lad ain't done bad thus far in endearing himself to the locals. On another note...since going to the hospital is a pretty expensive proposition these days, I will not be going to the hospital to repair a broken leg,,,that I would receive if I jumped off the bandwagon when the team hits a low spell. Even so...it's been a fun year and we all hope we're seeing a return of the 'Mojo Of 1989'!. How 'bout dem O's, hon? How 'BOUT dem O's!!!!

I think the team ought to have special T-shirts printed up in black on orange that say, "Yeah, yeah, I know we suck, blah, blah blah...." I love the confusion that all the pundits are experiencing with the O's doing as well as they are. I have no doubt that sometime today will be uttered the phrase, "Yeah, but's its still early and I'm sure the Sox and Yankees will turn it around."

Some people would say "they won" didn't they and that is all that matters but I keep wondering why so many base running mistakes this year? How could Ramirez make a running catch with his back to home plate, run another 15 or 20 feet and jump up on the wall, give a fan a high five, come back down, turn around from the warning track and locate the cut off man, throw to him, who then relays all the way to first base and still get one of our runners by 15 or 20 feet! Especially puzzling since Huff had a runner in front of him and he could only go so far anyway before heading back to first base. It did't cost us a ball game this time but what about next time?

Because 99 times out of 100 Ramirez isn't going to make that catch, heck, most left fielders wouldn't make that catch.

'Oriole Magic'. That is so lame, it hurts. How about simply saying they're playing as a team? Does there always have to be a gimmick slogan?

Hey Peter, isn't it about time to write your "oops" article to compliment your earlier one saying how Cabrera was never going to get it?
Don't get me wrong, I've been eating my share of crow over Cabrera myself. Perhaps all he needed was a pitching coach who actually took the time to work with him instead of one who felt his genuis status as a PC would just sort of magically transform the staff.
Since I live up here in Red Sox nation I listened to the Sox broadcast of the game and the announcers were both in sad agreement. This years Cabrera is a whole different pitcher than the one they were used to.
Schmuck already wrote an 'oops' article (or something to that effect) a week or two ago. Yes, Mazzone's 'my-way-or-the-highway' approach didn't work for all pitchers (although it may have helped Bedard get his bearings last year).

I'm as thrilled as the next fan for our success this season, not so much in terms of wins and losses but in coming together as a team and seeing progress in the younger players.

However, I don't think we'll be able to keep winning many games with 8 or fewer hits. Are there any other hitting coaches worthy of consideration?

The other worry is how well we'll play at the end of the season. Again, I'm not looking for us to be in the playoffs or even at .500, but we have to find a way to finish our seasons without the usual September Swoon.

All the same, I think Trembley's doing a great job. Go O's!

After seeing the catch again, it's more like 9,999 times out of 10,000. Ramirez didn't even see the ball, he just put his glove up in the air with his back to the play. Merry Christmas.

Thank you Red Sox fans! Thank you for helping fill our ball park. The only thing that I ask of you is that you have a designated driver when you get back on I-95 back to Boston. That's the same route that I take home to Brewster from Camden Yards.

Lets go O's! I was one of the doubters, I admit it but its turning into the start of a decent season. I like Mcphail's comment on getting BETTER at the trade deadline if we are in contention saying "you would be a fool not to assess the situation on the ground". Maybe?? You never know? It just feels good to sweep the BOSOX and beat Beckett with all those sox fans at camden!

I would say we are two hitters away and one starting pitcher away. Put Tex and one other good hitter mixed in with Roberts, Markakis, Jones, Weiters, and Tripp- the veterans in Tex and Roberts would do wonders.
