Hogar Crea is the ONLY Program that opens their doors to EVERYONE at ANT TIME and they do NOT judge anyone. God bless everyone here and I hope that no one ever has to go through the pain and suffering of addiction or having a loved one addicted. Go find help some where else where they will hand you a list of Programs and you can wait for bed. Addiction exists every where not just for Hispanics. The average age for heroine addiction starts in the 9th grade now. Do your own research and stop bashing Hogar Crea! God bless all the people who admit they have a problem and they take the necessary steps for recovery! May you receive the strength you need to overcome it. Hispanics are not the only people admit themselves into Hogar Crea. I don't care what their financial status is because the bottom line is that they are doing something POSITIVE and they ARE changing lives. Your in denial if you think it's only Hispanics that have an addiction problem. It's true that Heroine addiction has started in the 9th Grade. Why doesn't the Community do something psoitive to save our children from these Drug Dealers getting our kids hooked on this ****. Everyone should think first before they post and realize that it can happen to anyone or any family. It's a serious problem and everyone should get up and HELP!

Hi Vivian,
May God fix your broken road. You can make it. The past is 100% unchangeable. Hogar Crea received my Son with open arms on a Holiday. No place is perfect but they DO care! Do NOT let any of these negative posts get to you because they are ignorant and in denial that addiction can start at any age and from the wealthy to the poor. Let them go some where else for treatment if they prefer. Hogar Crea is #1 in my book. I pray evert day for everyone in their Program. Keep your positive attitude and you can make a difference in someone else's life every day by just telling your story. Everyone has a Story! |

The flan de coco isn't that good, but the other varieties are. I look forward to seeing these guys selling the flan and having a talk with them. These are human beings who made mistakes and are trying to get better.
I am amazed at how bigoted the comments are on this forum. I'm sure none of these posters never had any addiction problems, or have families who are free from addiction. |

let me start off by saying this program as its ups and downs... personally from being there and getting thrown out on the streets at 8 at night jaime which is the supervisor made a horriable mistake by making carmen garcia the director,
this 43 yr old women with bi-polar and skitzophrenia is responsable for all of the womens life there ,now i got kicked out for an attitude which is something that is expected but women have left to get high and to bring drugs back to get other ppl high and they still are allowed "treatment". now with this said she is unable to facilitate a group of addicts if she cant even work on her self and put aside her own personal vendetta's to save a life..i think they must be doing something that is unfit, which is the reason they dont want to go by the state regulations to recieve goverment support!..THink ABOUT IT the program is based on letting " your self be lead" right ...Contradiction or what |

If you are going to call people simpletons you should probably make sure your word useage is correct. "Your" implies posession. You should have used "you're," which means "you are." Simpleton indeed, you racist. |

I agree. My husband, an Iwo Jima veteran, worked his entire life and we never used drugs but when they built a steel facility next to our property, the employees were using and delaing there, 2 died. They were also threatening to rape and kill us, then we had to leave our beutiful proeprty where we lived (and owned) for 25 years. Spring Township looked the other way, the state looked the other way and no one stood by us. We were allowed to be terrorized out of our home and off our property by druggie thugs, creeps and criminals who had jobs and homes. We lost our home, not because we did drugs...but because WE WOULDN'T DO or deal DRUGS. PA SURE HAS BECOME A PECULIAR PLACE TO TRY TO LIVE DRUG FREE. MOST DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG ANYMORE. THE DA STICKS UP FOR THE CORP, THE POWERS THAT BE WANT THE JOBS AND NO ONE CARES IF WE DON'T HAVE OUR HOME TO LIVE IN FOR THE PAST 13 YEARS. AND NO...WE STILL WON'T DO DRUGS OR DEAL...WE WILL DIE FIRST!!!!!! IT IS PATHETIC THAT IT HAS COME TO THIS. AND WE WON;'T KEEP QUIET! AND MY HUSBAND THOUGHT HE WAS FIGHTING TO LIVE FREELY WHEN HE FOUGHT IN WWII...THAT GENERATIOIN UNDERSTOOD FREEDOM...THIS ONE DOES NOT. |

1 One is not a racist simply because one does not want to be surrounded by or associate with drug ridden and problemed people. We have adopted a drug free lifestyle forever and we never associate with those who choose to feel high or higher. We do not want to associate with them while they are high, after they are high, when they are stealing to become high, or while they are recuperating from their highness. That should be a right of ours without being insulted. Why are responsible people always being criticized for being responsible and saying so? We do not want to judge others nor do we want to be around them...therefore we do not judge them...do not come to our neighborhood. My facility is my home and is open to all drug free friends and family. Those types of drug free facilities are the most important ones - stable homes created by stable people - that keep millions away from a drugged up life. There are basic rules in life that we live by to make our blocks and communities safe, healthy and valuable. No drugs, no drunks...only responsible and good citizens looking out for the welfare of others... from the beginning..to the end. Families, Moms, Dads, extended family, friends, all like-minded individuals with common goals. |

I see your point that one doesn't have to be a former addict in order that he/she be able to successfully counsel other addicts. However, addiction, although a disease, cannot be compared to cancer. And being a former addict myself and a registered nurse,I have found that the best counselors are the ones who themselves are addicts. And I think that a doctor who has had cancer, gone through all the treatments would be much better able to be empathetic towards a cancer patient. Nobody can help an addict better then another addict, isn't that the entire pretense behind groups like NA/AA etc.?? And as far as "locking up junkies" and throwing away the keys clearly shows me that you never had a loved one who suffered from addiction. Addicts are not criminals for having an addiction, unfortunetly addiction makes good people do bad things and the more education and understanding we as a society gain about this disease, the less ignorant comments we can hope to see such as yours. |

nobody forces somebody to use illegal drugs...and if they're stupid enough to use illegal drugs they deserve whatever bad happens to them.

My brother was just admitted to Hogar Crea today. We tried going through the system as a family for help; but it failed us.
I'm not foolish I am aware that all programs have it's ups and down's but when you are working as a family to get help for your loved one; you never lose your hope. I am an American of Puerto Rican decent who has family that are Veterans of WW2, the Korean War, the Veitnam War and Desert Storm and my brother and I were products of a Home and not a housing project. Both my parents held jobs and we are College educated. It pains me that this country still stereotypes and knows very little about the sacrifices that even Puerto **** have made for this country. I guess some things will never change. Please let us all pray for a better tomorrow for all. |
