I just don't understand why we are forced to pay for the time he spent in prison - 21 years? We give people too much time. Look at Saddam, convicted and dead all within how much time??

His estate should get the bill. Way too much time.

In Iraq when someone is convicted and the judgement is death, they are required to serve out the sentence within 30 days. Sounds a little lenghty but I'll take it.
I doubt very much that Ohio will execute this clown though, they couldn't find the gonads to kill this beast in Canton who killed Jessie Davis.

I agree..21 years is way too long for the system to pay for the feeding/care of scum like Cooey. I remember this incident like it was yesterday-I was just turning 21 when this happened; and it terrified my friends and I. This horrific crime hit home for all young women in the area..that you are never truly safe. May Richard Cooey **** for his crimes

Honestly, they should wake him up in the middle of the night, in the next few days, have a small group rough him up, then immediately drag him to the Death Chamber where hopefully, he WILL experience pain. The end of his life SHOULD be cruel and agonizing.

WHY WAIT?

I believe us Ohioans need to make some changes to our laws. If someone is sentenced to execution it should be immediate not 21 yrs later. This just costs the state more money.

Cut off his testicles and let him bleed to death in his cell. Why waste any drugs on him.

Me too cfhs83. I graduated there a couple years before you. Anyway, I think the death penalty would mean more as a deterrant if it was used more timely. And if it was more consistent state to state, or city to city.

its about time...

its absurd this geek is still alive...why even bother to impose such stupid and unfollowed sentencing?

it will still probably take years more to complete the court's ruling

The only problem with swift execution is the ace card. What if he is innocent and was set up? Now I figure if a person is caught in the act and the act isn't self defense and gets convicted then the only humane thing to do is let this guy get his stuff in order if he choses and say his good byes if he choses. Also, give the perp a chance to apolgize to the victoms family if he choses and let him get his soul in order with God if he choses.

The guy should get maybe 60 days to get his affairs in order and then be shot in the head.

Yes Sir and if you knew the facts in this case you would know that we have wasted 20 years to much and we are still going to waste 3 more months.

Agree, SDespot, 21 years and who-knows-how much of our $$$ too late. Taking it a step further, books57, taxpayers should be able to file a class action lawsuit against his estate.

This is great news! Why does a killer get to live for 22 years after-the-fact? Those poor innocent girls did not receive that same opportunity. He should have been put to death right after court proceedings
