It means very little. CONCACAF is nothing on the world stage. This WCQ win is just smoke and mirrors. Since int'l friendlies rarely field a strong 1st team, the USMNT won't see real competition until next year in South Africa. I'll hope for the best, but...
Bob, this game wasn't a "Friendly", it's part of WC qualifying - 2 totally different things.("Friendlies" are simply matches between 2 countries that have no bearing on the WC or anything else).
While we've become the "team to beat" in CONCACAF, every game still matters as only the top 3 of the 6 countries advance to the WC. So yes, you field as strong a team as you can for these games.
