I was in the UFCW until this week, when my son who was in management opted to go back to the front end where I was working. I was railroaded then into taking a non-union position in the store....or lose my job because company policy will not let me and my son work in the same department. If the store goes on strike, however,....I WILL be sick that day...week....month...whatever . I didn't want to lose my union position, but had no choice. I DO have a choice whether or not to support the Union, though, and I choose to support the Union

It's a shame Albertsons has the highest prices in town and is screwing it's employees on their benefits. I hope that Albertsons leaves California as they intended to. I wish we had Lucky's again. How about a Safeway. Old Albertson would be turning in his grave if he knew how bad his CEO's are screwing his employee's and his customers.

Yes, just give John more money & benefits...after all, it is really hard to 'scan & bag, scan & bag, scan & bag'...Retail clerks don't even need to make change anymore...most people pay with plastic, and if coins are returned, it is automatic. Tomatoes are pink, and strawberries come from Watsonville...not local. For our family of 3 I spend my grocery money at COSTCO...buy it in bulk, break it apart, and freeze it. For smaller or last minute items, I go to Spencers. I get a smile and a thank you...the'll even carry my bags to the car if I ask...do you remember Williams Bros? You about had to kill the guy from delivering your order to your trunk. Automatic wage & benefit increases are not the answer...get a job at a place you enjoy working at. Have you ever seen a mad worker at In-n-Out or COSTCO? Compare workers at In-n-Out to McDonalds...one likes to be there and 1 doesn't.

all of you sound to me that you are unaware of the corporate greed taking place all over America, not just here in SO-Cal.The grocery workers along with their union are trying to make it so we have have a LIVING wage and health benefits. We all do not just SCAN and BAG.How the heck do you think the 1600 piece load that come in gets on the shelf three days a week? Lets say your boss paid Johnny $18.00 an hour for doing his job, and Jill does the same job and only gets paid $9.00 an hour. This is what has been done to us.Johnny gets full benefits and Jill gets none for one full year for herself and two years for her family. While the CEO's pull in six figure bonuses for the hard work that is done on our backs! So I say stop crying about what we are fighting for and support the middle class workers of America! All of them not just grocery workers. And how many in and out workers do you even really know? They don't look too happy to me. They look like they are busting their humps for a lousy $10.00 an hour!

To all you anti-union zealots, If it was not for the unions, we would not have a minimum wage law,8 hour workday, health benefits and pensions. These were won by the blood and sweat of americans who wanted a better life for themselves and their children. I suggest that all of you who think that corporations will take care of you and your families, out of the goodness of their heart, move to China. There you will not have to worry about Unions,They`ll take care of you.

Yeah! all these comments sound like you all don't know anything about grocery buisness?? We all work for a living and now to have Corporite Ceo's cut all our pay,job sucurity, health insurance,& any chance of ever moving up in the Co. it now takes anybody who gets promoted 3x's longer to get a raise of 50cent. All we want is to make a decent living. I have 17yrs invested in Albertsons I deserve not to be pissed on & replaced by someone off the street for cheaper pay & no experience. SHHitTT !! I dont think so!!

"...do you remember Williams Bros? You about had to kill the guy from delivering your order to your trunk."

HAHA! That's *true*!!! Ohh, gosh, I miss those days...

When my kids were little, and our beloved Main St. Wms. Bros became Vons, they made up a little ditty of a tune when we'd go shopping: "...It's not Vons, it's Wil-liams Broth-ers."

Ironically enough, they each abhor McDonalds and spend their hard-earned income at In-N-Out. Smart kids. Dumb corporate greed.
