Let's see now, so many surprises,
Chinese win the pairs 1,2, with Germans getting 3rd.
LEts see, Chinese get lots of money and jobs, with Americans outsourcing their manufacturing jobs to a Communist country. Meanwhile, Chinese spent the past two decades watching video tapes of Russian pairs champions and then spending all day long, every day, for many years, practicing, practicing, and practicing, then hopping a plane to the US to get a Russian coach or choreographer and sometimes Lori Nichol, not a Russian choreogrpaher to help them get that artistry in order. After many years of this, surprise RESULTS especially as Russian figure skating has been decimated while the Russian coaches coached the world. Oh well, there is give and take, while the world is happy, well others will have to settle for unhappy.
And now there is a resident Russian pairs skater married to a chinese ex singles skater to be an onsite4 advisor and coach.
In the men's division, well it's text book. Three world's skaters coached by Russians win 1,2, 3.
France's Brian JOUbert, Canada's Jeffery Buttle and Japans Daisuke TAKAHASI. Johnny Weir who once had a Russian coach but no longer, was fourth, and Evan lysachek was behind him, So the *US got 4,5, and they both beat Switzerland's LAmbiel.
Yes the Russian coaches must be blamed for those results. both in providing Russian pairs champions to copy from and for coaching the world and raising the level of figure skating.
They should also be thanked for neglecting Russian skaters so they can't spoil the medals parties.
Oh well, you can't have it all. Russian coaches are winners so you can't get greedy and expect Russian figure skaters to win too??????
The world of figure skating is ..........so interesting.
Can't wait for the rest of the world championships to play out.
