This rink is the only one around and needs to be upgraded for the kids and the owners benefit. But again the aholes at the city level have taken a year to approve the permits. Ths city is a joke. I hope Mrs. Heindl understands that the city treats its taxpaying citizens the same way as she was. I live close to this rink and we have no street sweeping, no tree trimming, no poice patrols (not counting all you guys eating at 3 Brothers). Basically no services except a new library down the street which is closed a lot . Lets hope the work is done soon so the kids have a place to skate.

It's unfortunate because it seems there's no 'good time' to close a skating rink for 6 weeks. Hopefully everyone can find alternate places to practice in the meantime. I've always preferred the Edge to the PV mall rink.

My son played there for years and this group never spent any money on the rink. If they had, there would not be the necessity for such a long shutdown now. With construction being what it is, six weeks will probably become twelve weeks. Very unfortunate for the kids.

Also, the PV Mall rink is not a regulation size rink, it is much smaller. Therefore it is difficult to even practice their routines there.

The rink will open and be better than ever! Hang in there everyone and think positive! There are other rinks and it'll be a bit of an inconvenience for a while.
Don't forget during the closure the owners won't have any income either... they want it done in 6 weeks, not twelve!

I am now in my 40's and the rink needed repairs and updated equipment since I was 12 or so! Be patient and understanding. It will definitely be worth the wait!

What do you mean we never spent any money, did you see the rink when we took it over? We are constantly spending money on Repair. We added hockey boards and glass, it never even had any glass, added new front doors, side doors, etc, new snack bar, new floor mats, etc. So I don't know how you can make comment likes that, when You DON'T know anything about it.
Besides there a lots' of rinks around. When my children used to skate here and without notice the next day the rink was closed..... we had no choice and skated in Paramount, every day at 5:00am we used to do Patch & Freestyle.....

It was not Harbor City itself, we had to go through Los Angeles City, but it took 3 month for all the soil tests, etc, then some corrections etc. Also the Engineering Company it all took long time. the Architect had to start making totally new plans. At least we got started. They are many rinks around. Palos Verdes, Culver City, Paramount, Lakewood, East and West in Artesia, Pasadena....
Call me, I would like to get together maybe with more neighbors and they should fix all those uneven sidewalks and trim all the trees and sweep the streets better. Have waste basket at bus station.
Hopefully it want take too long regarding the Ice Rink and everyone will be happy.....

Sasha Cohen is a two time Olympic loser! Irina Slutskaya is a THREE time Olympic loser! Meanwhile although Michelle Kwan has not won a gold medal at The Olympic games she has won more National Championships than Slutskaya or Cohen. She has won more WORLD championships than Kwan or Cohen. Michelle Kwan is a Winner!!!!!
What unites we American Sports fans is that WE WANT TO WIN! Michelle Kwan has given us FIVE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!! When she didn't win a gold medal in Nagano, Japan or Salt Lake City, USA another American skater won the gold medal. We won PLUS we got another medal.
When Sasha Cohen competed in Torino, she had 300,000,000 hopes riding on her and she choked!! Tara Lipinski: Winner! Sarah Hughes: Winner! Michelle Kwan: Winner! Sasha Cohen: Loser! Sasha Cohen couldn't keep the American Ladies on top of the Olympic podium!
