First of all, why was the dog not on a leash?

I believe it's the owner and not the dog's fault that these individuals were attacked. Why is it that the only attacks by a breed that we hear about are attacks by pit bulls? Don't other breeds have the capacity to attack too? If this domesticated animal is put down it will have been the most ignorant and unprofessional approach to a simple matter. YOU SUE THE PARENTS who acquired this animal for a teenager who clearly can't take care of, handle himself and display the maturity to walk down the street with his dog. How many times have we heard of a criminal of the most heinous crimes get set free because they're "rehabilitated" yet an animal is seldom given a second chance with a more responsible owner. How long will it be before this family acquires another dog to mistreat and abuse? If a specific breed shouldn't be allowed in the city then PEOPLE NAMED "BERNARD" SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED IN THE CITY EITHER.

Yeah, all dogs have the capacity to attack, but they don't generally, and when they do, the destructive force is nothing compared to a pit bull. A pit bull is the SUV of dogs. They're for insecure losers who need to prove something. Why can't you get a golden retriever? When was the last you heard a goldie bit someone?

Actually my neighbors Lab attacked my son. Now I have owned man pitbulls and never have I had one try to attack anyone. Other dogs attack people they just don't make headlines because of there names. Actually if you look up statistics more people are attacked by dalmations and labs than pitbulls. So do your research before you make a stupid comment. Own a pitbull and you'll see why good owners love them. Yes there are bad owners who make their dogs mean, However it is proven that pitbulls raised right are not people aggressive dogs. Also there are people aggressive children do I tell you that they can't be raised Should we kill them no because that would be inhumane. Well so is killing dogs when not all of them are mean.

Lucy thank you for your knowledge and understanding.
I never heard what happened to the dog but this family should in my opinion should end up in parenting and animal behavioral classes. What were they thinking letting an inmature ignorant child lose with this poor animal. All I hope is that this dog got a second chance with a more responsible owner.
As for the people who think only labs and goldens should be the only dogs allowed in the city must not be very confident pet owners not to mention they are propbly the ones that dont know the name or number of an emergency veterinarian. I feel sorry for their pets too. Once again thanks again from HULK.

That is exactly what I'm saying punish the owner and start making them responsible. If your to inmature to own one and properly care for one of these great mistreated animals don't have one. It's like the guy with a small manhood gets a big truck, what good is it if you can't reach the pedals or see out of the window. This must be you in one of these catagories right. imature small manhood lazy using the dog as a status symball sleep tight little man.

little to say all dogs bite some worse then others but then again it depends on how they are raised or if provoked to bite. I have a 3 years old rotti who is my baby she loves kids and females but hates men she has been to school and listens very well but as a procaution we lock her up or put her haulti on if a man is coming in the house we also have a 3 year old maltese who bites but only when she feels threatened or affraid . My mother inlaw has a 5 year old pitbull a very beautiful dog which has never bit anyone my kids cann lay on her and play with her all the same stuff they do with my rotti and she has never bite anyone. but a few weeks ago my kids where at there friends playing and one of them got bite by a golden retriver not a little bite it was one we needed 4 stitches for. the dog was always friendly and no one would have ever expected him to do it. all dogs can and will bite as defense but 95% of it depends on how they are raised. stop picking on pits we all know that the pits walking down the street with these teenage 'THUGS'bite thats what they train them to do they think its funny

Remove the legal distinction between the actions of the dog and those of the owner, so that the owner is 100% responsible, and is charged with whatever the dog does. Legislate to remove the requirement of intent, so if a dog mauls someone, the owners is charged as if they did it. If the dog kills a child, the owners is charged with manslaughter. I guarantee overnight these problems will stop, because right now these sicko dog owners are using the existing law as a shield to protect them from being responsible for their dogs' actions.

If the pit bull is aggresive it is the owners fault for treating it badly, not the dogs. One to many people think that pit bulls are "Killer" dogs, it is not true though, I know. I now lots of pit bulls.
