1 No this article says that Greeks from Russia were deported to Uzbekistan by Stalin in 1940 and they were joined by 11,000 Greek communists after the Greek civil war. So it was not just Gandeto, BOREC's and Risto Stefov's parents who run off for their war crimes, later pretending they ran away because the Greek army waged ethnic cleansing of "Macedonians" from Macedonia and such lame excuses. I am not expecting Risto Stefov's and Gandeto's parents to own up why they really left Macedonia and why they are anything BUT Macedonians. I have not heard yet of an example of anyone advertising they committed war crimes. |

1 In 1989 there were also 100,000 Greeks in The Republic Of Georgia their ancestors fled there due to persecution by the Turks. After the fall of the Soviet Union most Georgian Greeks moved to Greece. The Russians settled ethnic minorities all over the Soviet Union. There are 353,441 Germans in Kazakhstan and 33,300 in Kyrgyzstan. |

1 Consecutive unanimous UN resolutions put the blame for this war crime squarely on the communist side. They condemn among else the abduction of 28000 Greek children from Macedonia that were not being returned even after the UN received 8000 petitions from parents in Greece wanting their children back. The reason was partly blackmail, partly a kind of scorched earth policy, partly communist janissarism and sometimes a claim that as everyone in the countryside able to fight had to be conscripted to the communist army, children needed to be taken care of by host families. However, in reality children were taken in miserable camps with appalling hygiene, lived mostly in squalor for the exception of the few lucky ones, such as a number that were taken to Eastern Germany. They were usually separated from their brothers and sisters and so it can hardly be said that the care of the children was the primary concern of the communists. Of course the parents had sometimes to stay on the side of the communists in the hope of seeing again their children and therefore had to fight for the communist cause. Mothers who resisted the abductions were killed. Those who did not resist were often pressed into military service. Those men and women who tried to escape cosncription were beaten, tortured and sometimes were killed. And those children that were never returned to Greece were indoctrinated that they had been taken from Greece to protect them from the Greek government and were raised in Yugoslavia and elsewhere to think that some great injustice had been done against them. This twisted claim of a Slav genocide in Macedonia is more evil then evil. The texts of the two UN resolutions can be found online: UN Resolution 193, 1948 http://daccessdds.un.org/doc/RESOLUTION/GEN/N... UN Resolution 288, 1949 http://daccessdds.un.org/doc/RESOLUTION/GEN/N... Both titled: Threats to the political independence and territorial integrity of Greece. The vote from the UN general assembly was UNANIMOUS - both times. Here is a relevant text from the second resolution: RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE U.N DURING ITS FOURTH SESSION. THREATS TO THE POLITICAL INDEPENDENCE AND TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY OF GREECE - 288 (IV)(18 November 1949) Noting the report submitted by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the League of the Red Cross Societies on the question of the repatriation of Greek children, and expressing warm appreciation of the efforts made by the two International Red Cross organizations to facilitate the implementation of General Assembly resolution 193 (III) C,Noting that the Greek children have not as yet been returned to their homes…. …2.Urges all the Members of the United Nations and other States harbouring the Greek children to make all necessary arrangements, in consultation and co-operation with the international Red Cross organizations, for the early return to their homes of the children with the aforementioned resolution; |
