Did anyone investigate these consultants before they were hired? Probably not, if they weren't even investigating CCS employees for major positions before they hired them.

If he's going to work for the vendor to whom he awarded a contract, or if he's working through that vendor for another client, wouldn't that constitute a huge conflict of interest? Seems to me Columbus Schools could get out of their pricey contract on these grounds before the system is implemented, thereby saving the district millions and avoiding an IT meltdown from a bad implementation. Just saying.

I think you are missing the point here. It is a very common problem in CCS. Without planning, administration tries to enact a new policy without a thorough evaluation. Kronos was introduced to us as something that will be used in the future and we never really heard of it again. No one EVER asked us to clock in or track our hours. This makes it difficult to refuse. Did the union get involved before it ever got to the teachers? Maybe? Most of are just focusing on our duties and doing the best we can and not really aware of what goes on between the union and administration.
