Is Anyone Listening wrote: Stephanie Groce seems to be the only Board Member willing to question what is going on behind the scenes. Too bad she is leaving. The rest of the Board really needs to pick up the slack and not just blindly approve every slick sales job from people like Mr. Houpe. Did anyone investigate these consultants before they were hired? Probably not, if they weren't even investigating CCS employees for major positions before they hired them. Board Members - please pay attention! Better check your facts; I believe Mr. Wiles was the only one to vote against this project!

I am no lawyer but wrote: If he's going to work for the vendor to whom he awarded a contract, or if he's working through that vendor for another client, wouldn't that constitute a huge conflict of interest? Seems to me Columbus Schools could get out of their pricey contract on these grounds before the system is implemented, thereby saving the district millions and avoiding an IT meltdown from a bad implementation. Just saying. Too late, the Board (minus Mr. Wiles) already voted the full amount for the project & signed the contracts!

CCS Teacher wrote: I think you are missing the point here. It is a very common problem in CCS. Without planning, administration tries to enact a new policy without a thorough evaluation. Kronos was introduced to us as something that will be used in the future and we never really heard of it again. No one EVER asked us to clock in or track our hours. This makes it difficult to refuse. Did the union get involved before it ever got to the teachers? Maybe? Most of are just focusing on our duties and doing the best we can and not really aware of what goes on between the union and administration. Yes, as a matter of fact the CEA did!

GetAClue wrote: <quoted text> So have you reported these allegations to the CCS Internal Auditor? If, not we can also thank you too for the "chaos & mismanagement"! Yes, the problems with ineffictive data projects and with Rod were brought to the attention of the CCS Internal Auditors more than once and to Dr. Harris herself. From what is common belief, the result of that was to let go the auditor who was willing to pursue the situation.

Private Sector Job? Doesn't Rod realize that his new job is for a State Agency - Lower Colorado River Authority? Was this a misquote?

Another example of failed management trying to place the blame on the union.
When management was considering the purchase of this system didn't anyone check with management's union contract experts?
If so, did anyone approach the union about changing the contract to have teachers track their time?
Can you imagine if the union summarily decided to have teachers take Mondays off?

Houpe knew that he was wasting money, but he was trying to prove to other CIO's on Ohio that he was a big man. He did not have the education or the skills to be a CIO. I know of many people who told him not to install Citrix but his favorite women manager talked him into it. She needs to be fired also. Harris needs to hire someone who will make hard changes, save money and get things done, not hire because they are black and she wants to make a point.
