That would be an Arctic Oscillation moving cold air down through the U.S.

On the other hand, AGW ( Global Average Surface Temperature ) is unaffected because it is about SURFACE not AIR temperatures, and the two generally balance out. The 'heat wave' in the arctic adds to the sum and the cold snap in the U.S. subtracts leaving the sum about the same, other than some influence from ENSO and other factors that affect the heat transfer function between the surface and air.

Your warming may return to make you happy around 2030, until then, you and the other alarmists can carry on advising us it will return, "With a vengeance," before it ends in yet another 30 year cycle around 2060, by which time even you will be past caring.
