Saving energy by going green

This past week a vanload of Extension educators traveled to Penn State to learn a little more about energy and ways to help with energy issues.

This is great, burning more seeds such as corn, other ag products, etc., thus increasing the price of all foods. More educated idiots to the rescue.

It has been shown the the higher fuel costs are causing food to rise much more than ethanol production. We should be easing into ethanol as a means to reduce our oil thirst.

Why do we need ethanol, because of energy pigs, like brownie here.

There are two issues here.

1) reduce the oil demand.
2) save the evironment.

Ethanol helps wth the first item only.

Conservation helps not only with both but saves you money at he same time. Simple enough.

Dave, you have no reason to call me an energy pig. You have no idea of my consumption habits. As a matter of fact I have been using a wood stove for the last 30 years and have probably saved the enviornment more than Al Gore. I have no problem with you calling me a pig, but "energy pig", sscchhhh!

Going green? What a joke.

Did you see the pictures of the volcano eruption in S.A. last week.

Do you really think by me not eating a hamburger or going to those worthless new light bulbs is going to even make a dent in the environment like the plume of ash from that volcano.

It is the arrogance of man to think we could change the climate of the earth.

If God gave us everything he used to make the earth and the atomosphere and said, "here it is, can you repeat what I've done?"

The noblest scientist and the most educated people on earth wouldn't have a clue where to start.

Yet, using my charcoal grill is going to destroy the earth.

Pride is one of the 7 deadly sins. The AlGore and tree hugger types sure fit this bill.

If you force the reduction in oil consumption, you force the reduction in democracy.

You see all the financial devestation partially caused by a slowing of the growth in GDP?

Try cutting oil consumption by 5-10% and you will be looking at a recession.

The answer isn't using less oil, the answer it looking for an alternative at the same time we drill drill drill.

Remember, "cutting the consumption of oil never fed a hungry child".

You post like a conservative Republican - we all know that conservatives don't conserve. Why is that?

Buring wood is better than burning oil but it does add to the greenhouse gasses.

I repent & declare that you are not an energy pig.

This is the absolutely dumbest argument against global warming out there. "There can't be global warming because puny man can't destroy God's creation" Well, God created man & put a man in front of a 75 mph loaded semi & see what happens.

The Earth is God's creation & gift to mankind. We are talking about all the crap we pump into the atmoshere on top of what nature puts there.

You just mock God;'s creation & thereby mock God in your disregard to this planet.

This has to be the second dumbest argument. "We lose democracy by cutting our oil usage." Huh?

These higher prices are funding governments like Iran. Iran is using their oil money to explore nuclear weapons & send IEDs to kill our troops in Iraq - so we should help them?

It is higher oil prices that have us in a recession now.

It is higher oil prices that is taking money away from food budgets acvross this country. It is higher fuel prices that drive up the cost of food so our aid programs are buyng less food with the same dollars.

We can cut our oil use - TODAY. We have the technology. What's styopping us?

1) Bush - never once has pressed conservation. Knows about Geothermal Ground Loops & says nothing. Doesn't promote hybrids. All he does is run around yelling drill, drill, drill.

2) A-holes like jtb who refuse to conserve. Even though conservation with today's technology will allow him to drive just as far & be just as comfortable in his house. Even though it will save him money! He is just too ignorant. It must be written in the Bible somewhere : Thou Shalt Not Conserve, Thou shalt trash my creation! Thou shalt fill thy wallets!

And you think all we pump into the atomosphere is what percent of what the volcano put into the atmosphere last week in S.A.?

We are so insignificant. Me and my charcoal grill and my cond. light bulbs will not ruin the earth. Such arrogance.

Real science can be recreated. These dunderhead AlGore type make speculations based on models and how many times are the models wrong or have to be remodeled.

You libs are just plain pathetic.

Screw the tree. Give me a nice cherry dining room table or a nice baseball bat or a beautiful oak stair case. That's when a tree looks it's best.

Dave, you speak of me mocking God. Another joke.

What again was your biblical definition of Christianity?

Not the "biblical definition of christianity" crap again. Obviously, to you, it means that you can pick things out of the Bible to believe - condemn people who don't agree with you, and can ignore other parts of the Bible that you want to not have to live up to.

Did I get it right or will this just go on & on & on.

Dave ol buddy ol pal ol chum,
What happens if we cut oil consumption by 10%

prices soar, people are put out of work and/or great unimployment.

Of course you libs and tree huggers have wanted the price of fuel to be more expensive for a long time now. You looked at Europe and saw $5-$6.00 per gallon and said, "it's not fair that we only pay $1.50 in U.S., it should be higher"

WE DON'T NEED TO CONSERVE.

We have oil we can drill for. But the libs and the tree huggers and the environmental wackos won't let us drill for oil.

If bill clinton had signed the anwar bill in the early 90's we'd have that oil today.

I'M TELL YOU, "oil conservation never fed a hungry child".

Why conserve when we don't need to.

You libs are just socialists and communists in sheeps clothing.

Also, WE ARE NOT IN A RECESSION.

The GDP slowed to .06% in the last quarter. That is not a recession.

But then you have your head stuck so far up your politics, you won't pay attention to facts and the truth.

Instead, you LIBS rely on your feelings and emotions. What a pathetic life you lead. Walking blindly and happy as can be because you think you can see.

If we cut oil consuption by 10% it would lessenm the demand and the price woud come down.

If we cut oil use by 10%, we would cut the money flow overseas due to oil by 20%.(We currently import 2/3rd of our ol).

So, lets see where we are so far:

We all buying 10% less gasoline/ oil and spending that money on other goods - better than the Bush Stimulus money.

The price of gasoline will be less, even more money to be spent in other places.

The less money going overseas will strengthen the dollar and help lower the cost of most things we buy.

And all of this will cause a recession? Brilliant. Freaking Billiant. Where did you come up with that - did Rush tell you? Bush" The CEO of Exxon? OPEC?

If Bill Clinton would have signed the ANWAR bill, Anwar oil would be gone. Even with the oil industry's estimates. If we could suck up every last drop - two years max.

I'll tell you, lets take a collection of all the money saved from conserving oil by 10%- 760 million bbls a year at $100/bb is 76 billion dollars. I wonder how much food that would buy.

Lets say the 10% reduction lowered oil prices by 5%. thats over 6 billion bbls at $6 or another 36 billion dolars for food. Are we feeding enough people yet?

Then lets figure how much the oil price would drop if the dollar regained just 5%. Add another 30 - 40 billion dollars to our food fund.

Is that enough more money to feed the hungry? over 150 billion dollars for food for the hungry - a year. Oh, BTW, I didn't figure in that the 150 billion would buy even more food because food prices would drop with the price of fuel & the dollar would go further.

But, Hey jtb, keep reading that Bible - it is certainly doing Gods work there instead of helping the people Jesus helped - the poor & hungry. What a hypocrit. You and your biblical definition.

heathen jtb-- The Government never lies. The Government says we had a .6% growth each of the last two quarters and PHEW, that was close. They also tell us inflation is 2%, are you buying that? Make up your mind it will cost more tomorrow.

Now most economists are liberals as most say we are in a recession. McCain says we are in a recession.

Believe the official definition & use the government supplied data all you want. We are in a recession.

jtb - I don't think there is one clear definition of Christian in the Bible. If there was, there would be one universally accepted definition used by all denominations. But currently, different denominations put emphasis on different texts and definitions vary.

Could you tell me what your definition is? If you don't want to reveal it here, go into the Soapbox and PM me. You've asked the question so many times but haven't indicated what you believe, so I've become curious.
