Judged: 4 4 3 Ice has been melting since the last glacial, it seems that no one took any notice until recently, but now it's been blown out of all proportion and has been declared a catastrophe. It's 1 ºF folks, one effing degree Fahrenheit! |

Judged: 2 2 2 Your oft repeated lie. Here's the usual evidence that disproves it: ice melt was low and stable for 2000 years before the industrial revolution. It's now happening at a rate "greater than almost all periods for ~4000 years". http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/ctl/10k.html |

Judged: 3 3 3 So what, does anyone want to go back to those days? F**k the people who live at low levels, they'll all be long dead before anything serious happens and their children's children will move on when it becomes necessary. You alarmists have no idea how mankind has managed over the millennia, as the globe changes shape. The way you lot ramble on, it's as if something diabolical is going to happen tomorrow, well it isn't and you won't be around to worry, so go play with your trainsets or whatever it is that floats your boats. Warmists main problem, lack of realistic imagination, although they excel in the fantasy imagination department. |

Judged: 2 2 2 We need to start thinking, before we offer policy. Reject CO2 restrictions, fossil fuel is good. We need more CO2, I'm not against nuclear, solar or wind, but if they can't warm our climate to stop the coming ice age, they aren't much good. |

Even if we are causing climate change (which we aren't, we may be assisting it but we did not cause it) we are not hurting the Earth, the Earth will always reheal itself with or without us. We are just hurting ourselves with all of the pollution. This world is overpopulated anyway. Who cares. I think natural selection needs to make a come back and the rising sea level is a good way to knock the human world population down a peg. I am not a conservative republican or a democrat. I think this needs to happen. We have used the Earth too long and there needs to be a change in the system. As far as animals are concerned, there will always be life on Earth and with every extinct species comes a new one. I know this sounds cold, but it is true. Read a biology text book.

Judged: 5 3 3 We're told that Earth has warmed rapidly since then and the blame is squarely placed on Co2, with no mention of the fact that Earth is still recovering from a short term cold period that lasted for approximately 500 years. We should all be grateful to have lived during a warm phase and not worry unduly that warming continues. Emissions reduction will not reduce warming, the best we can hope for is a slightly less polluted atmosphere. Rise and fall of sea level is a natural occurrence that simply annoys a few humans, it happens very slowly, so nothing to lose any sleep over. |

Here's another cause of sea level rise that has been known about for a while, but 'overlooked' until recently:
Groundwater greed driving sea level rises 25 September 2011 http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg2112831... Direct anthropogenic contributions to sea level rise in the twentieth century 06 January 1994 http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v367/n64... |

Judged: 3 3 3 The rate looks fairly constant from 1993 to 2010 of about 3.2 mm/yr, and a recent small drop in 2011. http://sealevel.colorado.edu/ |

Historical sea level CHANGES Last few hundred years - One of the oldest tide gauge benchmarks in the world is at Port Arthur in south-east Tasmania. When combined with historical tide gauge data (found in the London and Australian archives) and recent sea level observations, it shows that relative sea level has risen by 13.5 cm from 1841 to 2000. http://www.cmar.csiro.au/sealevel/sl_hist_few... |

Misleading claims about sea level rise
http://sites.google.com/site/globalwarmingque... Research papers on this subject include: J. Church and N. J. White, A 20th century acceleration in global sea level rise, Geophys. Res. Lett., 33, L01602 (2006). They find a minute acceleration in sea level rise (0.013 mm/yr/yr). B. C. Douglas, Global sea level acceleration, J. Geophys. Res., 97, 12,699–12,706 (1992). He finds no acceleration (despite his title!) and in fact finds a slight deceleration of -0.011 mm/yr/yr. "Thus there is no evidence for an apparent acceleration in the past 100+ years". S. J. Holgate and P. L. Woodworth, Evidence for enhanced coastal sea level rise during the 1990s, Geophys. Res. Lett. 31, L07305 (2004). P. L. NOAA Data Shows Slowing Sea Level Rise
17. September 2011 - Do you see any red flags? The average of the 21 NOAA measured trends is 147 mm/100 years (6 inches). This is a far cry below the IPCC projected 22 inches for the next 100 years. http://notrickszone.com/2011/09/17/slowing-se... |

Map of Sea Level Trends
http://sealevel.colorado.edu/content/map-sea-... "Please note that these trends have been determined for only an eighteen-year (1992 - 2010) period, and reflect the impact of decadal scale climate variability on the regional distribution of sea level rise. Additionally, local sea surface height trends and variations are a result of many factors, including (but not limited to) local crustal displacement, glacial isostatic adjustment, steric effects, and even local wind patterns. Therefore you should consider these effects in interpreting local sea surface height time series derived from our gridded data sets." |
