When is the estimated opening date?

Ugg, I hope it doesn't become like Grand Century or Lion Plaza down on Tully.

Granted those were bad neighborhoods before the malls were put in, but they became even worse thanks to the extra traffic.

Looks like Landess/Park Victoria is going to go from "blah" to "bad"

how many asian supermarkets does milpitas need? i mean really - with Lion, Ranch 99 and Ocean do we need ANOTHER asian supermarket? I'm all for diversity, but what about bringing in a better dining experience and healthy food store in Milpitas like a Whole Foods or Trader Joes???

I guess it was too much to hope for that "we" may get a Trader Joes....

Is there still hope for the vacant space where Lucky used to be on Calaveras? What about the old Mervyns? Does anyone know?

The Luckys on Calaveras will become another Asian market, Marina Foods ( read this on MilpitasPost.com about a month ago).

I don't mind more business for Milpitas but we should be going after a Trader Joes or something that will bring a new crowds. We already have so many Asian supermarkets it's just stealing customers from each other which doesn't increase overall business.

you have got to be kidding ANOTHER asian market? that's over 6 in a 2 mile radius!

Whole Foods and Trader Joes not going to make it here in Milpitas at this current economic crisis. First of all, these two stores are way overprice. As for another asian market, lets look at in detail. Since Milpitas has a big majority of asians, it is only obvious that they need a speciality store that caters to the community. So that being said, why add another asian supermarket? Within the asian community, there is diversity. Ranch 99 caters mainly for chinese and ocean supermarket for vietnamese and the new future asian store called Seafood City (former Home Depot Store)is an asian store with Filipino flare.

If the new supermarket's fish department is going to stink to high heaven like those at the other Asian markets in the area, then I strongly feel that the owner should be required to install some industrial-strength chimney scrubbers to prevent flocks of seagulls from overtaking the airspace immediately above the shopping mall. Always remember: "Fresh fish don't stink."

I also agree i mean love the the fact milpitas is so diverse but really another Asian market? we have enough already here in Milpitas.. How about a Costco? i would love a Costco in milpitas, we always have to drive to san jose or fremont to for Costco

Diverse? Have you looked around? Twenty years ago it may have been diverse.

(sigh) As a Milpitas resident, I'm doomed. It's going to be more traffic on Landess.

The transformation of Milpitas into a third world ghetto is nearly complete.

I got on this topix cuz I was missing my old stomping grounds. I guess I'm not missing much. Doesn't sound like the Milpitas I knew and loved.

The bottom line is who is making money. Mervyns was bankrupt. Lucky closed because there is already a SaveMart, Safeway and Nob Hill in the area. I look forward to the Marina supermarket. Ocean and Ranch 99 is alway crowded and parking is difficult to find. The location should help generate more revenue for Milpitas because it is visible to main traffic routes and easy to access.
