ok yes you don't "own" the street but how would you like some unknown car parked in front of your house at all hours day and night with your children in the house or your loved ones alone in the house. OR your dogs barking like mad at the intruder? Lets face it, these times are scary and unsafe. Sure park there for a bit but don't use the space in front of my house as a truck stop! OR! maybe you can ask the home owner if they mind you parking there? DUH!

do you realize it's a matter of courtesy . What if you would like to have family over or you yourself use that spot for a work vehicle . Why should we have to park away from our own home because most have lost their manners. Of course people can park where they want but what upsets me is they don't take into consideration how their actions affect others.

I am always suspicious of people who never want to park in front of their own place. Do they owe money or are they trying to hide from someone or are they involved in illegal activity. Something is always very wrong when they do not want their own car near their own place.

When my friends come over, they park in front of my driveway, with the front of their cars just barely in front of my neighbor's mailbox. My neighbor came out the other day and told them that they need to stop parking there because it's in front of her house. Her mailbox is at the edge of her yard, and she never has one car--in her driveway, so I don't see what the big deal is-- we're not taking up parking space, and the car's front is just barely touching the edge of her yard... I was wondering if she could get us in trouble for continuing to park there, since there's so little space to park at my house.

I meant she has one car, which is parked in her driveway, or garage. ^

I live in northern CA and in the "county" part of the city...not in the city limits. I'm not one to complain about anything, but I'm just curious about motor homes not cars or pick up trucks...and my question/concern is: I've lived in my house for 8 years now and just recently a neighbor is parking their motor home right in front of my house. They are not blocking my driveway in any way. My question is...why can't they park their motor home in front of their own house? It is annoying...but like I said, it's not blocking me in any way...so I haven't said anything to them. They've never bothered me in anyway so I have tried to let it go. It's just starting to bug the hell out of me! Thanks for any input or opinions.

They probably started parking it in front of your house because, as you've experienced, it's annoying to have it in front of their house. Maybe you should just try to talk to them and see what's up.

My philosophy is simply this- we all pay taxes, it all goes into creating streets to park, we all share it. Period. Your house has a driveway and garage for your vehicles. I could care less who parks in front of my house, I dont own it, why should I care? If I have guests, there will be plenty of space in front of somebody else's house. I find it kind of funny actually when I see people getting so territorial over something that is not their territory. And I find some comments on here that suggest tampering with cars that are parked in a place were nobody was using said space in the first place to be irrational and incidious.

We have a neighbor who is an unemployed mechanic. He constantly works on cars and has had as many as 8 cars on or around his house which are parked in front of other neighbors homes. We do not have a HOA. It creates a problem just finding space to put out all the garbage cans.
The other day a tow truck dropped off a motor home for repair across the street from him! After putting up with all the noise of revving engines and ratcheting into late hours of the night he test drives them up and down the street, sometimes at fast speeds. The police say we should handle it by talking to him but we get the story that he is just trying to earn money to feed his family.
I am all for feeding his family but I don't want to live across the street from a repair shop either.
Any suggestions?

It's a parking space...that's all. There is no need to ask a homeowner if you can park your car in front of his/her house if it is a public space. That's a pretty self-entitled statement you just made. Stop whining...this isn't first grade. Now THAT'S irritating.

I am actually fine with people parking in front of my house. It always happens because there are not enough spaces. Why should people have to park farther away when there is a closer spot nearby. Your argument has absolutely no merit. HA!

It's called RESPECT! You're right, no one owns the street, but we do own the house the morons are parking in front of. Park in your own driveway or in front of the home you are visiting.

There are people who will not park in front of their own home (where there is room) but in front of neighbors. And they have room in their driveway.

Go buy a derelict just to park in front of yours, and see how patient they will be with you.

I can get 8 cars on my driveway with ease and it's great for my family and friends. We live in a modest small 2 bed 1 bath home but the driveway is fantastic. It was a consideration a made when I bought my property, after years of searching/avoiding parking spaces at previous residences. When we move to a property, we should consider ALL angles such as sun position, flood plains and parking options. Move on people if you live in a parking lot....

Wow! I didn't realize this was such an issue. Typically I ask any type of repairman whether it be my local Provo plumber or an electrician to park in my driveway. That way they won't bother any of my neighbors. If I am having a large number of guests over I make sure to notify my neighbors and they have always been okay with it. Best of luck!( http://www.utahcountyplumbing.com )

If the neighbor's vehicle is a truck, try throwing trash into the bed from time to time. Fast food garbage works well. Cannot be traced to any one person. This conditions the driver to seek a safer place to park. If you are dealing with a car, use a spray bottle filled with clear soda and spray it on the windshield from time to time. Again, it will condition the driver to find a safer spot to park.

UPDATE: So, the jackwagon neighbor likes to come outside early in the morning to watch me as I leave for work. This a game he cannot win.

This board is full of whiners and complainers. Why don't you go TALK to your neighbor instead of complaining about it over the internet? BOO HOO, someone is parking in front of your house...
