Brush Fire Burning At Camp Pendleton

Well, the second fire may just be an "afterfire" we all saw them last year.. I will say that I have faith that the teams out there will keep us civilians safe. JUST AS THEY HAVE IN THE PAST!! Good luck to those who may be evacuated... God bless those who serve and protect all of us.

Anyone have an accurate update on what's happening? I lost my home here last year and am freaked out. The fire was miles away---for awhile. This is not funny to the few of us that already lost everything once.

From MiraCosta Community College I could see flames peeking over the hill in the direction of the smoke plume.(North West-ish) so I'm not sure which direction the fire is heading... as I'm kind of just sitting here playing Mario Kart.

Generally you'll be given an advanced warning... parents aren't worried and therefore I'm not much either although... I'm typically referred to as the brightest in the fam.

Where am I going with this? You might want to keep the news on just to be safe or find somewhere reliable to find which direction the fire is heading and find out where your house is on the map.

As for the school related issue: Check the school's website. They are generally constantly updated and will provide you with the information you need.... I'm going back to playing my games now.

You should really know what your talking about before placing blame. it happens here like it happens anywhere else and strict rules on ranges are very good at preventing fires. It rains so rarely, we have so much open space there, fires are naturally inevitable. you hae no idea what your talking bout blaming training marines for the fires.

Whhy don't we just ignore Ripper's comments. His inane commentisn't worth our time here, and he probably just wants attention, anyway.

All the civilians I know, Democrats and Republicans, all colors and faiths, appreciate the service and sacrifice of our military.

So far i haven't heard anything about schools closing or anything so i think ECHS is open tomorrow.

Are they evacuating any base housing? My daughter and her husband are there on base and i can not get ahold of her.

It's not out. It's not contained at all. Firelines are being worked on, but 0% containment right now.

This has nothing to do with training exercises. We are in an era of Extreme fire danger due to the reliable Santa Ana winds which have increased in intensity over the last few decades. Right now, we do not have the hellish winds that drove the flames last year. But, that can change. What we need is information. That was sadly lacking in the past and apparently has not improved. Listen to news radio---nothing was on tv to warn us to leave. Had we gone to bed, I would not be writing this. Anyone found any info on this fire?

heard from a friend who lives by the back gate that it's out...completely
she says she can't see it anymore
so maybe it blew n.e. past a hill or sumthin...
damn ECHS havin school...

Well that was put out there nicely!! so i guess the best answer for you is WHY don't you go slap one of our "JARHEADS" and play war with one of our vets;), as being a 3 (yes 3)time deployment surviver wife my husband hates a**h***s like you thinking THEY are doing this s**t for fun jacka** try being in a war situation and see WHY they need these training exercises dumba**!!!!!

I was hoping it was somewhat contained! We haven't smelt any smoke for about an hour here.
