Hey, Miss Carmel Valley Princess....there's a world of difference between living a 30+ year law-abiding life, and "paying off your debt" to society, you spoiled little b**ch! All you've done was purposely conceal your past, duped your husband into marriage and children, and embarrassed the $h*t out of your kids, family and close friends that you've developed over the years! Time to give up your country club life of leisure and pay the frigg'n piper! Oh....I've got a "pipe" for you, too!

Wow...I feel safer already. And I am happy that Michigan is helping to pull its criminal justice industry out of the recession.

As much as I appreciate how she has lived her life for the past however many years, that doesn't preclude her from doing what she should have done in the beginning. Evidently, 32 years ago, the rules didn't apply to her, and it seems that she still thinks so now. What makes her a model citizen? She has raised kids and people like her? I've done that too, and in the same neighborhood as she does. No one is calling me a model citizen, nor are they saying that I'm some sort of hero. I'm a mom who loves her husband and raises her kids. And if given the opportunity, I would take that opportunity to show those kids about responsibility and consequences. What nerve to ask for someone to commute her sentence. Why? Becuase she doesn't grow dope in her garage? Oh please. This woman can cry me a river.

Why should she get away with it? She not only committed a crime she also escaped from prision. I don't feel one ounce of pitty for her. She needs to pay for her crimes.

I don't see how she can say she has spent 30yrs paying off a debt when she only spent one year in jail. She has been free all of these years and hasn't paid he debt to society.

Besides, in her mug shot she looks like it was all a big joke to her. I hope she's laughing now.

Dago,
And you're an @ss with a chip on his shoulder who can't get his obtuse point across without using vulgarities and name-calling to fill his blogspot. Nah, nah. I win.

In a country with the highest per capita inmate population, we need one more bad bad person to be "rehabilitated" by the system - Geez! Hello America ! Susan Lefevre should be the poster child for what is wrong with the criminal "justice" system in this country. I wonder how many of the 101 recent San Diego Drug Busts are going to lead to hard time? What, exactly, was the nature of the case against LeFevre? Was her plea coerced? Has she been 'rehabilitated'? Michigan is angry because she broke out of jail to lead a useful and productive life before they could turn her into a hardened ex-con.

So Lauren, where do you draw the line on escaped convicts. 30 yrs? 10yrs? 5 mos? How long does an escaped convict have to stay out of trouble before they're considered a productive member of society? This is TOTALLY a loaded question but I'd still like to hear your answer.

Loaded, yes - it is possible to never have gone to jail and still be useless to society, or to do a little time and end up jaded for life, or, less frequently,rehabilitated... Le Fevre appears to have rehabilitated herself, and I believe our country's 'correctional' system's involvement in her life at this juncture will do more harm than good to her and to her three children, which she 'produced'. What may become of that product given the fractured fairy tale that is our 'justice' system is pretty well a given, don't ya think? To answer your question, anyone that gets out of that system with their gender identity in tact and who, then, does no harm is olly olly oxen in my book, no matter how long they were in or were supposed to be in.

She needs to pay a price, she was never a violent person, she should have never been sentenced to prison. There must be a more responsible way to pay this debt.

Alan,
She was dealing heroin and escaped from prison.
What would you suggest? Should none of those kids busted at SDSU get a walk also?

It doesn't matter that she says that she turned her life around. The fact remains, that she was convicted of a crime and sentenced to prison. She should be returned to prison, to serve out the remainder of her sentence, and perhaps have some additional time tacked on for the escape. At no time has she ever said that she was wrongfully convicted. She pleaded GUILTY to the charges! She should be treated as any other inmate would be treated, if they were to escape and be captured. And her comment that "I've been through 30 years of paying off a debt" is absolutely ridiculous. She hasn't paid her debt to society, because she escaped from prison. People in prison are the ones that are paying off their debt. Not those who have enjoyed the luxury of being free for the last 32 years. Enough said?

Neither are drunk drivers. Getting in an accident isn't violent behavior, it's an accident. But they get sent to prison now.

Time to change some laws?
