This is very sad... Stockton just keeps getting worse and worse.

But Stockton is not getting worse I live in stockton well a town right by stockton still in cicty limits.Stockton is no worse then any where else so really if you dont know you shouldnt not put it.There is just as many gang problems or shooting or whatever as any where else this week it just happens to be Stockton!!

Blessings and praise for Mr. Dennis Turner and his fine son. They did not simply stand aside. Although there was nothing more they could do for this young man, unknown to them, they were THERE, offering what comfort they could, in those final moments of that young man's life. What they experienced will remain with them for the rest of their own lives. They can take pride in having eased that young man's burden, if only a bit and for those few moments.

Prayers for the young man and his family. May the Maker take him into loving hand, and help his family find closure.

Blessings and prayers for those who must investigate this unhappy business and bring the perpertrator to an appropriate Justice.

That boy hadn't even begun to live. I will be interested to get more facts on this. I certainly hope it wasn't just a random act of violence. God be with you young man.

STOCKTON - A 16-year-old boy died Monday after he was stabbed in the chest in an apparent confrontation at Sandman Park and then tried to pedal away on a bicycle, witnesses and Stockton police said.

The boy lay dying in the street near the intersection of Cornwall Drive and Lucile Avenue just around the corner from the neighborhood park. Dennis Turner said he was cleaning out his garage about 11 a.m. when he noticed the boy waving for help. Turner approached.

"I held the kid's hand and told him to breath easy," Turner said, fearing the boy was near death. "I was trying to give him that last bit of comfort in his last moments."

The boy was pronounced dead at San Joaquin General Hospital, marking Stockton's fourth suspected homicide of 2008, said Officer Pete Smith of the Stockton Police Department. Smith would not release the boy's identity pending notification of his family.

Police are seeking a "person of interest" who was described as a male in his 20s with a slender build and standing 6 feet 1 inch tall, and last seen walking north on Don Avenue on the east edge of the park, Smith said. Investigators had few other details on what led up to the boy's death, Smith said.

Sandman Park about three years ago was the scene of a high-profile homicide that remains unsolved. Louise Debarrows, 47, was beaten and stabbed to death in broad daylight Dec. 10, 2004, while walking her dog in Sandman Park. Her body was found in Mosher Slough, a narrow waterway that runs along the park's southern boundary.

"We have nothing to believe they are related at all," Smith said of the two deaths. "That would be way too speculative."

Turner said he noticed the boy lying on the street a few feet from his home. Gasping for breath and curled up on the ground, the boy told Turner he had been stabbed. Turner said the boy had a single wound about 3 inches across the sternum of his chest.

"It was bad. It was real bad," Turner said. "You could tell he was on his way out."

Paramedics immediately took the boy away, while crime scene investigators remained in the neighborhood for about three hours, said Turner of the latest incident that punctuated an area troubled by crime.

Ralph Adams brought his two grandchildren, ages 8 and 11, and two golden retrievers to play at Sandman Park on the chilly Monday afternoon. He had not heard of the boy's death but expressed little surprise of the news.

Adams' pickup was stolen last year from his home about a mile from the park, and after that, he came home one day from a family trip to find an intruder in his garage.

Now retired, Adams said he has lived in the neighborhood for three years and thinks about moving to Oregon.

"I mean, the crime is getting worse and worse," Adams said. "It's a daily thing around here."

While you might think that Stockton is an ok place to live, you are wrong. It has the highest forclosure rate in the nation, a high voilent crime rate, high percentage of kids that don't go to college after they graduate high school, high auto theft rate, been known by the FBI as a haven for multiple gangs, not to mention the unemployment rate. When you compare all of this to cities of equal size hands down Stockton is a cheap place to live for a reason. Don't kid yourself and think that this is a rare. Instead of kidding yourself, get out and change the city.

Stockton is ghetto, leads the nation in crime, foreclosures and illiteracy.

Such a tragic story. My heart too goes out to the family. Why do people do this to each other? Anywhere?? It's not just Stockton. It's everywhere. Why can't we all just get along? Agree to disagree and move on...

For one maybe you should go back and read Inever said Stockton was an ok place now did I.Second this is nit where I want to be right now Im here not by choice.Also what does forlosures have to do with gang problems and someone getting stabed.Also what does it matter to you if kids aout of high school dont go to college does that mean thier a piss of shit or something for your info Im 30 years old never went to college nor did my husband and we both have pretty good jobs that pay very well so you dont have to go to college to get some where all the time its the person its self and if they are worthless or not.
One more thing I said Stockton isn't as worse as people thing every city and state has the same problems yes Stockton may have more but its no worse then it use to be!!

Scrapbooker is right; Stockton is no worse than it used to be. Unfortuntately its always been a hell hole and remains one to this day. While about 25% of the city's population are good upstanding people, the remainder are human refuse. Good thing they can't read what I've written about them!

My prayers go out to his family and really hope they find the guy who did this, but this is so real in our city, and way to much of it happening everyday...we need to put a stop to this some how....

To teenagers life is one big video game. They have no idea of the reality of death and no respect for life of any form!

And I fear it will get much worse before it gets better!

I hate seeing what our society is capable of in terms of violence and hatred.

How can we stop the violence? How can we make a difference and help society change.

Violence always seems so senseless to me, and is always tragic.

I am left feeling helpless.......
