We are both of mexican descent. I am of the olive skin tone, and he is blonde and very light. We are absolutely in love, but one thing bothered me..... this past weekend. I went to meet his family, they all of light complexion, everyone was extremely polite and inviting. they all loved me,but I did notice one thing! his mother was very shy around me, and hardly talked to me.. in comaprison to the rest of his family, who was very engaging and fun. I was hoping that she wasnt acting like this, because i accidently sent her son home with a small hicky... until .. my bf made a comment to me today, that he was suprised of how much his mom liked me...because she usually doesnt like dark mexicans. i was a little shocked, but i played it off like no big deal. but #1 i dont even speak spanish #2 they are wayy more mexican than I am, 95% of his family do not speak english at all..including his mother. I was a bit perturbed at this comment, and found it hard to be happy ..that she liked me!.. the "dark mexican".. in which in actuality i'm not even that dark. someone help me! is she racist? *i dont mean to sound ignorant, i just have no clue how to feel about this. mayb shes had so bad experiences with dark mexicans

i am a light skinned mexican. im originally from el paso, TX but my mom was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico. SHE lived in poverty. My mother is ALSO light skinned. she has a slight accent. she has managed to become a successful nurse (she found it was her calling) and has 4 beautiful children who she loves and will do ANYTHING FOR! you cant say she's the stereotype of a mexican woman. im extremely proud of her and i dream of becoming a cardiovascular surgeon(though i have an artsy dream of becoming an actress). im confident i can get there. my dads side is darker mexican. theyre some of the most beautiful people i know. it is true that on Telemundo and other channels that the lighter actress gets the higher part. let that be part of our culture. it doesnt matter. if you work hard enough, you can get anywhere. I am currently living on the east coast of the US. I dream of moving to Mexico with my best friend and just diving headfirst into the culture. I Love Being Mexican<3

This is not only a mexican issue its an issue with what apears to be most races. The darker you are the more unfairly you are treated. I myself and a very light skinned mexican american. Both of my parents are born in mexico and are much darker than me. My father is very dark but he does not fit into your catergory of dark indian looking mexican. He has red hair mixed in with his brown hair that coming from the fact that his father had natural red hair. My grandather was 6 feet with white skin and red hair. Many people on his side of the family looked like any typical "ginger" meaning they have extremely white skin with red hair and freckles. Many people always ask me what my race is and I never hesitate to say I am mexican. I do not get why so many people nowadays continue to bash other races and or think that white is better. I myself do not look down on dark skinned mexicans simply because I am of a lighter shade. Mexico is a country where there are many different looking people. In fact where my grandfather was form jerez zacatecas I could say that 7/10 peopel are very light and many many of them have blonde hair and blue or green eyes. As for all of these ''if it ain't white it ain't right" type comments on this thread all I can say is firstly I can guarantee that most of you would never say these things to a mexicans face for fear of getting a good old ass beating. I would much rather be mexican than to be a biggoted idiot like so any people on here. So before you go bashing mexicans why don't you look around you and see why so many of your ''perfect race'' blonde haired blue eyed girls are most likely the ones you will see on the stripper pole, in porn doing the nastiest of things not just regular sex and on girls gone wild. Its because unlike us "inferior" mexicans who have a beautiful culture and strong family values you are the ones who will end up on the side of the freeway begging for money all crack infested because you people have no values.

There are blonde blue eyed people on his side. My mother is mestiza, light brown, with black hair. My mother comes from a very poor family, and came to the USA for a better life. My father on the other hand comes from a family who had properties and homes and were finacially well off. He came to the USA with a Visa because his family could afford it. He wanted to make his own way, and always had the option to go back and live comfortably. I often hear similar stories from others. It seems like Mexico discriminates against its own people. The darker you are, the less desiarble you are.

Race is not determined by skin color.. stupidness also is not.. The whole fucking race is a problem LIGHT OR NOT! They act just as dumb and the ratio for a mexican mestizo to be smart has just as much opportunity no matter if the skin is light or dark. Prove to me evidence whiter mexicans are smarter. Please.

If you on the other hand are talking about actual WHITE mexicans as in blonde and blue eyes, then yes those are descendants of the Spanish from yrs ago.. those are good, but lighter skin mestizos are the SAME thing as the dark ones or are related in many ways. Mestizo = Wetback, just some aren't as dark.

You are all terrible. Saying that ALL mexicans are bad, stupid, etc. I'm not a white mexican, I'm a light skinned mestiza. I can tell you, with confidence, I AM NOT ANY OF THE ABOVE. You need to stop with your ignorant comments. I would bet all the money in the world that you would NOT say that to ANY Mexican's face, despite their skin color. If you would, you can count on your ass being kicked, you little pussies.

I'm visiting mexico since I live in Canada and I only got one week off work, anyway, I'm originally Egyptian, and I'm considered darker in Egypt, while that doesn't mean anything in Egypt, and its actually cool in most of Canada, but I wonder as a tourist in Mexico how the treatment would be.

I have dark skin but I'm not mexican, I come from beautiful south pacific country where my skin get dark easily. I came here in US since 2005. I come from the city where everyone get friendly easily, kind of melting culture and melting pot. To be honest, some people here in US treat me differently, some treat me like a dirt, some friendly to me, some people thought I was illegal immigrant because they ask me to work at their house as their maid, and I said, "I will help you to tidy up your house but you don't have to pay me." That means I just need them as a friend. To be honest it was pretty hard to make friends with American white women as my age, since I often in their community. But seniors are more welcoming me. People at the public mistaken me sometimes by speaking spanish, and I said I can't speak Spanish. I've seen how American here treat somebody by their look, their opinion about the other races. I've been in a situation where beatiful women talk the other race is bad and their own race is better. Sound old song but beauty is in the eye of beholder. It used to be bother me about some people treat me differenty because of my dark skin but I don't care anymore. People just people. They can always say, act stupid things and useless things every time. But I focus with my life now, I have beautiful family. I thank to God give me so much blessings that I can't count. For everyone with dark skin, don't let people bother you because with your skin color. Focus with your life, be thankful. Treat others like you want them treat you.
