this bill WONT bring an end to the tide of unemployment like mendoza says. im sure if an employer wants someone who is qualified to do the job ,they can find plenty of people with good credit. it sounds more like mendoza doesnt want employers looking at the social securiy numbers of job applicants. this bill would just make it easier for illegals to get a job.

Just another attempt by some liberal politician to make it easier for misfits in society. An employer should know if a potential employee is a responsible person.

A person who is deeply in debt and doesn't pay his bills, is more likely to be dishonest and would steal from the employer. An employer sure has a right to protect himself and his business.

Stupid politician, just like a majority up there in Sacramento.

You have a choice between 2 equally qualified job applicants.

One of them has a clean or good credit report.

The other one is being chased by bill collectors. You hire this one and your phone starts ringing from creditors wanting to talk to the new employee. Then the employee is placed under garnishment. This will cost you time and money to process the paper work.

Which one do you hire?

An employer has every right to KNOW who they are hiring. This Mendoza scumbag makes it sound as if the economy is hurting because employers can't find workers due to their credit scores. Give me an F'n break......It's July, plenty of college kids have just graduated looking for jobs, responsible kids!

This guys a real piece of shit...This reminds me of the "moratorium" Obama put in place to delay the inevitable, foreclosures. Hurting people who have saved their money, been responsible and want to buy these forclosures up.

This should do a lot to attract and keep jobs in CA. Mendoza you are an idiot and the people that elected you are idiots. Get busy and cut the budget, don't worry about how businesses that can still hire make their choices. Another article in today's paper says that California income tax revenue has dropped by 34%. Do you think that is because this is a business friendly state? NOT!

I think this is a great bill.Checking a person's credit worthiness before hiring them is an invasion of privacy.I'm shockerd however, that a Democrat is propsoing this since they are the party who keep voting to take away our liberties in this country.

You are very right, this Mendoza fool is your typical Mexican politician, and more a Mexican than an American with his loyalties to Mexico and the Mexican people, even is he is a American citizen. A typical worthless liberal who wants to excuse ill responsibility. Its too bad we couldn't send him back to Mexico, where his people came from.

This is a pointless law considering that California has so many regulations against employment to begin with. What, employers aren't allow to see if the job applicant is a crook?

Oh, so because I lost my job of 30 years, could not pay my bills, pay only what is needed, electricity and phone, live like a pauper, that means I can never hope of getting a job? My credit was stellar. WAS. But that does not mean that I am a thief. If I found your wallet, you would get it back (with all your money) Just ask anyone whose cell phones I found and the assortment of jewelry that I got back to rightful owners. Not to mention the countless money errors I could have benefited from. Don't judge, it could happen to you too.

No it could not ever happen to me. Why, starting when I was young and with my first job and then in the military, I always put 10% of what I made away as life savings, not to be touched for any reason, except to feed my self if worse came to worse. No one else, I knew ever knew did this, and spent all all they had to party and buy nice new cars, and other things. Now that times are very bad, many of them are hurting financially, while I am fairly well off with a huge nest-egg, that is now earning a lot of dividend and interest income, for me to enjoy in my older life.

No one is talking about being a thief and there is no excuse to being one, even if you are poor.

There is also no excuse for ever borrowing money, that you can't pay back even when times go bad.

given a choice between taking freedom away from indivuals and taking them from businesses, the dems will take from the businesses first. How in the world this will create any jobs is a mystery. Employers just have another reason to take business to a state where this is allowed.
