Biffster wrote: Good morning Fifth. Yes, a bit of a nip in the air I must say. I like this time of year when when the trees lose all there leaves and they look stickly. Something about the bare tree against a gray sky that says it's Winter. The persimmon tree is still full. Some of the leaves are the same color as the fruits. I'll send a few to my sister-in-law for Christmas. Otherwise, they'll stay on the tree. Birds feast on them through the cold season. By mid-February, the tree will be nothing more than gray fingers reaching into a gray sky.

Hi Fifth and Biffster... Not to be negative, but I have a hard time when it's cold and gray. Once winter sets in I don't seem to warm up until May or so. The cold gets into my bones and settles itself for the season...and nothing can chase it away! Growing up in the bitter winters of Montana probably has something to do with it... Fifth...any word on your daughters EEG? Michael...I can just picture you in front of the TV all puffed up that day...LOL! Hope you have a good week!

I know what you mean, about the chill. I have arthritis in my knees, and I can FEEL IT, when it gets cold. I used to do a lot of walking. It's very frustrating for me, that I can no longer walk without having the knee swell and ache. Yes, I can see Michael so. No, we've not heard any more about the EEG. And, she's as angry and frustrated as you can imagine she would be. She's been putting the time to use, though. She's been tackling some of the embroidery projects that she's put off, over the years. Several at once, so that, if she gets tired of the critter, she can work on the still life, and if she gets sick of looking at the still life, she can go to Egypt. She already has one lovely Egyptian-inspired embroidery that we're planning to mount and hang in the living room. And, she's cooking supper a couple of times a week. She has several specialties that she likes to prepare. And, the Maker knows, I have no objection to having her do some of the cooking! Lots of HUGS and prayers.

Looks like a nice place here. Can I just get a regular coffee?
So what's new in Sacramento? Are they still doing all that construction on 5th Street south of Capitol Mall, or is it finished now? I've been gone for nearly a year and a half, and I'm hoping to catch up.

Good morning all!! Hope all is well with the crew.
Welcome Ex-Liberal. One regular coffee coming up...but I'm not sure where the help is this morning. Sometimes they don't even bother to call in!! LOL
As for the construction question, I leave that to someone who knows. The last time I was there some three years ago, there was much confusion even among the locals.
I hope everybody has a safe and productive day.

Certainly, the additional time with your son will be well worth the effort you've put into this. Lots of HUGS, dear. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Good morning, Longshoreman! All is quiet, here, thank you. Good morning, Ex-Liberal. Although we live just outside of Sacramento, proper, we just don't get to that area, often, so I'm not able to answer that question, either. It's a bit damp, this morning, but a Maker's day for all of that. Lots of HUGS for everyone here.

Driving through downtown Sacramento used to drive me nuts; but now, after having been out of California for nearly a year and a half, I find that (and I can't believe I'm saying this!) I miss it!

From my house, it was a pretty pleasant walk down West Capitol Avenue to the Tower Bridge, and then across the river to Capitol Mall. I'd pop in at Old Town and hang out (there's a neat little gift shop on K Street & Second called the Garden of Enchantment) and then wander on back. If you're ever in Old Town, there's a shop where you can get smoked fish. It's run by this Hungarian guy, and it's really, really good--and expensive!

Welcome An Ex-Liberal, room for cream? If you are talking about the high-rise they were going to build (was supposed to be the tallest building in Sac), well that never happened. That development fell through. I'm sure the internet would provide an answer for you. Funny thing, I drove past there two days ago and noticed the fenced-off site with nothing going on.

Good morning all!! Yes, Jenn is missed around here!! Please tell her hello from me Scrappy.
Ann...has it been a year already? Glad it has been a wonderful year!!
Ex, Oregon, is pretty pricey, isn't it? They don't have a state income tax, so that is nice. The closer I get to retirement,(if I am lucky enough to enjoy one) the worse California looks.

I'm assuming a decent relationship, or you would not have kept him around. A 40th Anniversary? <applause> That is quite an achievement. I hope the weekend is everything you want it to be. HUGS

We'll be mounting a couple of embroidery pieces our daughter has done, this weekend. The Egyptian-inspired piece will soon be hanging in the living room. The other is intended as a Christmas gift for her grandfather. She's put a lot of work into them, and both are lovely. So, we'll be busy, this weekend. I hope your weekend is wonderful. HUGS
