Cops Angry Over Sentence for Man Who Shot at Police Station

"Mr. Walraven I hereby sentence you to 3 years of state prison for heinous acts that you probably would have committed if you were a better shot."

my 15-year old son was sentence to 10 years with two strikes for shooting toward police officers in Stockton in October 2005. He did not have a criminal record but because he is hispanic he is considered a gang member. I see predijuice and it makes me angry to see that my son who is now 18 will be sent to pelican bay what kind of jusitce system is this.

So now he's been given a second chance. A second chance to actually go out and shoot someone. The court system in this country sucks.

Those two women who shot near a police officer only got a 1000 dollar bail. I can't believe this is all crap, these officers put their lives on the line they need to be better protected by the law and those they protect.

Just let the crooks run wild and eventually they will take over. Soon no one will want to be a police officer and then what.

So, he's white and is able to get away with it. What about O.J.? He's black and got away with murder!

Does anyone here know the facts of the case?

I find it hard to beleive a judge would hand down a sentence that was unfair or dangerous. This sentence was recommended by the probation report. So we have a educated Judge, educated probation report and they gave him a sentence.

I say lets give him some good old fashioned uneducated punishment. Something he would never forget about. I know when you spek to people they always talk about the switch off the tree, they never forget that punishment! But now when do you hear people talk about that 10 minute time out they got when they were a kid?

Way to go 911 Dispatchers! Bail out so the whole community can be without access to First Responders......

Well, lets see you steal copper in San Joaquin County and go to prison? You shoot up a residental neighborhood, and shot into a public building, let alone a police station with dispatchers working... and get county jail time. mmmmm justice works in different ways. I bet had this guy gone to the court house and shot it up, not hitting anyone and that judge was the one working the evening shift the guy would be making license plates right now in state prison. I guess the Sheriff and Police Chief's who protect us don't count, let alone those of us who live in Ripon. How sad

Andie, Jeff B: I'm half white half mexican. I used to hang out with thugs (Yeah I WAS a loser), when we would get pulled over, 90% of the time I would drive away beause I looked and talked white, cops ALWAYS treat m ebetter. I speak from experience, I'm not stereotyping.

OJ got away with it becuase he has money and we all know that money can buy you ANYTHING except love.

Someone show me an article where an average minority got off as easy as this white guy and I'll shut up.

CowardsTheyAre... what are you dumb? Dispatchers are not armed, they answer the phone, use the radio, put up with crap from people who are stupid, maybe like you. They are not paid to be targets, they are not paid to take the risk like the police officers are. This guy, using a shotgun and handgun shot through doors, windows of a police station where people could have been waiting to exchange childern and doing other business. Dispatchers in Ripon are hero's because when you need help, they don't judge you by your color, size or shape. They get the information from you they need so they can you send you emergency services, of course this could be interupted is some idiot starts to shoot up the police station. Man, you dumb.

It is a shame, so many people could of been injured or killed... Who's to say he won't do it again if he has a bad day.

Then look at Michael Vick....
Lindsey, Nicole, and Paris... what the hell is going...with our justice system.

It figures. This is exactly why are streets are so safe.

What a person is not scared of shooting at the police, he is a danger to everyone. He needed to be locked up.
