Nearly all states require a simple majority vote to enact a budget. The Republicans have been able to effectively tie the state in knots and prevent any cooperative effort to pass a budget. The two-thirds requirement to raise taxes would remain in effect. So Proposition 25 is wrong why?

Not a political animal, but I'm wagering Republicans don't like the idea that passage would quite possibly impair their ability to further forestall progress of this state in every budgetary way possible. Been a burr under my saddle for years.

"So Proposition 25 is wrong why?" . Simply put, to try and control spending. . If the Republicans did not drag their feet, our debt would be even higher and taxes and fees would be rising right along with it. . When your income drops, you lower your spending (assuming you are not stupid) . When a business loses income, they lower their spending. . When California loses income, they want to raise spending? . Prop 25 only benefits those who feed at the public teat.

Simply put, Pure Nonsense, you and your kind think it is your ordained right to control the lives of everyone who disagrees with you all. . Republican's dragging feet amounts to dead weight and contributes to both our debt and fee/tax increases. . You want me to believe that when your income drops, you lower your spending ... another farce. . When businesses lose income, they fire workers and give the administrators a pay hike. . California has been a walking dead man since the boys in Texas cheated us via the energy debacle and haven't repaid what the court ordered them to. Still have to spend to keep the state running. . Prop 25 will get those not needy of a teat off the state's.

"Simply put, Pure Nonsense, you and your kind think it is your ordained right to control the lives of everyone who disagrees with you all." . "My kind"? What "kind" is that exactly? . Where exactly did I say I wanted to control your life? . "You want me to believe that when your income drops, you lower your spending ... another farce." . Now you claim to know MY spending habits too? . You make a lot of silly claims, but you never back them up with facts. Why is that?

Couple things. If the democrats are the majority and represent the majority, why doesn't this democratic republic act like one and do the people's wishes? Because the slim minority want to hold the majority hostage. Smart businesses that take a loss in income by reducing investment and spending will find themselves dead at the end of the down cycle. Business 101. If times are hard, shift operating expenses to investment and infrastructure spending and/or marketing. Doing otherwise insures your stupid death. Business 101 for those that have never run a business.

I'll concede that Davis, a Democrat Party governor, was hopelessly corrupt. The radical right ridiculed Jerry Brown because he lived frugally, drove an old car and refused to live in the governor's mansion that Raygun had built. But the fact is, over the last 45 years, mostly Republic Party governors have ruled the state. Republic Party ideological policies might sound appealing on paper, but they hardly work when governing a massive state like California. Democrat Jerry Brown is a proven technocrat who governs from the common sense middle. He'll balance budget. He knows state pay levels have to come down. Even the unions know that. He's the candidate who can orchestrate a budget compromise.
