"Why do some people think the state workers are the reason for all budget problems? We have taken a big paycut the last 18 months. And haven't had a raise in 5 years. What have you done for your state to help? I picked this job for the pay and reitirement! Sorry you made your choices and they aren't as good as a state job. I will enjoy my 3.0% at 50 retirement because I earned it! You chose your job and I chose mine." (courtesy of "onetimeatbandcamp". )

Yes, you did score a great job, BUT there are those who haven't!
I have a very close relative in LE AND I have a very close relative in construction.
GUESS who's working full-time and guess who's working very little?
I have compassion for the construction worker relative and am thankful for the LE officer's job.
I DON'T rub in the face of my construction-worker relative the fact that the LE officer has a FT job plus good benefits! That would be pure A-R-R-O-G-A-N-C-E!!
Yes, governmental workers and their strong unions have, to a degree, helped bring down our state! Retirement at 50 is NOT necessary, baring a medical reason!
WHAT would happen if EVERYONE had a state job as yours?

There are over 30 lawsuits that have been filed by various parties, including the Governor, in connection with his scapegoating state workers. This man's inability to lead and govern has cost the taxpayers over a million dollars in legal fees.

A significant number of state workers receive salaries not from the troubled general fund, but from their state agency's own funds that are self-supporting. So, the governor's pay cuts and furloughs are saving the state NO money. He's just using state workers as pawns to get the legislature and the unions to do what he wants. He's nothing but a crude, uneducated bully who thinks he is the Terminator character.

CA Voter? If you cut the state workers in half, the schools would close down, the prisons would close , there would be no CHP, Patton would have to shut down, and so would most of the business in this state which depends on these places for their income.

We all need each other, like it or not. UC faculty, CSU faculty, and all the college support staff (including the junior colleges) are all made up of state workers.

Au contraire my janitor friend. Over-paid government workers bankrupting our state is just plain wrong. Fiscally we cannot support those who retire at age 50, hell, high school drop-outs like yourself get a cush state job sweeping floors and cleaning toilets...and college educated people in the private sector have to support you until you die of liver cancer. Have another drink! LOL

$15 an hour is overpaid. Their work is worth only $5 an hour with no benefits and no retirement. Better yet, outsource the janitorial duties to a company that employees illegal immigrants and save the state a ton of money.

The local school districts should be self-supporting instead of being dependent on the state for funding. The prisons should be privatized as well as Patton. We don't need the CHP. All they do is issue speeding tickets on I-5. The UC, CSU, and junior colleges should also be self-supporting instead of depending on the state for funding.

We do not need state government. All state government does is employ workers and pay outrageous salaries and pensions. State government should be eliminated as it is a waste of taxpayer money.

Let's privatize the police departments as well I'm sure you wouldn't mind a bunch of mall cops patrolling your city.

That's OK, there are people at the EDD that will help you fill out the application. You had better hurry up before all those Big Macs kill you.

Is there a class war in the making? Are state workers over paid in comparison to what is happening in the private sector? Is it time to give them a haircut?

I'm not leaving my job so I don't need any lazy aa.ss.ss. EDD employee to help me fill out an application.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
