What a misleading article. Please folks, don't be lulled into a false sense of security. Yes, YoYo county has almost 400 registered sex offenders, but less than 80 of them are actually on "parole" and subject to "terms and conditions" as the article implies. Yes, some may be on probation with their own terms and conditions, but the article didn't reference that.

Sex offenders who are not subject to parole or probation conditions are essentially free to live and possess anything deemed legal for you or I to possess. Thus, absent a warrant or consent, law enforcement will not be checking the phones or computers of more than 300 of those sex offenders. They will do as they please until caught.

100 officers? They better have made about 50 arrests. Can't wait for the press release with actual numbers.

"Hater of Stupid People," "Just Asking," and "arizona." are the type of individuals that always have some bone to pick and an axe to grind. They will never be satisfied with anything. They exist solely to bring others (and their efforts) down... I am sure every thing they write is based on facts...

Thanks goodness for reasonable informed people. This is just another Jeff Reisig paid political press release to fool the people that just read believe what the Dem prints. You are correct Registered Sex offenders are not subject to search unless they are on parole or probation. Since most people don't know this, it is easy for Mr. Reisig to put out his usual misleading and false press releases and then have his cronies post what good job he is doing. With all the corruption in politics is there anyone out there that really believes everything they are told by people like Mr. Reisig?

El Tigere: I know it was wrong of me to post that, I just kind of wanted to say something and be a smart alec to Arizona without really being down on that level. Childish and I apologize.

I'm just glad that offenders were arrested. Any percentage is good.
If this makes one little girl or one little boy safe in my community. I am happy

Better than no sweep at all and no arrests. If this had not been done and a few months from now one of the pervs was found guilty of a sex crime, HOSP, JA and a few other anti establishment regulars would surely be leading the critizism of the DA and Yolo county law enforcement for not being more proactive.

You know I am sick of this. YOYO county is really going bananas with all these sweeps. We are wasting time. These guys that are being arrested were probably arrested all over again for things like magazines with pictures of kids in them. So unless some glaring issues like these guys / gals were holding onto some really damning things, I believe that it was really a waste of money. Why doesn't the YOYO county leaders just ask to Catch a Predator to come out and do live shows. This would truly show just how poorly the DA is doing with this line of work. I estimate that while there are this many on parole the person that said that there were closer to 400 in the county may be off by almost three times that number. Although these numbers are always skewed because if you have sex as a minor and a parent presses charges is that counted as a sexual predator? Hmmmm....

Okay well are you a homosexual? Or a Lesbian? Transgender? Etc. I mean if that is the case and I were illegally arrested for this nonsense you spout off, I would sue the city for not having anything, along with the county or counties involved for destroying my good name when I had to go to court and have this published as a matter of public record. Take it from me one who had two instances alleged that were later proven to be false. Going down the road of arresting simply based upon what you are stating is not what the constitution allows. By the way the cheap shot at the Arizona law is a childish and lame attempt to get people to rally on your side that are latino. Maybe you should think about what the laws of the country require not only to live here but, for coming and working and finally leaving when you are supposed to.

You know what, in looking at some of the ways people get off on this website, I am disgusted with how you are wanting the police to violate rights. I am appalled that these sexual predators are even allowed to be in these communities. Especially if they are living in apartment complex's that are usually heavily trafficked by minors and children. Talk about how the government is just allowing for these guys to be set up for disaster. How about not allowing these guys the access to the basic things like the internet. Rehabbing these guys away from these urges. And finally if they can't get them to rehab then send them overseas and let them live in lands where being with minors is acceptable. I find it disgusting but, every culture has their own beliefs and not to make excuses but, in the late 1800's and early 1900's people were marrying at very very very young ages due to the life expectancy issues. SO we as a country are not that far removed from this being an acceptable thing. No I don't agree with it but, look into history and this county changed as we were to expect longer lives.

12 arrests? Not a good use of resources unless they were for felonies or serious misdemeanors.

Turns out it was just 10 arrests, not 12:

James Andrus, 63 possession of pornography;

Robert Sutton, 47, possession of computer device;

Jim Baker, 65, possession of pornography; Vincent Russell, 39, possession of pornography and marijuana; Uriah Clark, 35, possession of pornography.

Ramona Hernandez, 28, failure to register; Omar Avalos, 26, violation not given; Joshua Bracy, 36, violation not given; Aurelio Solorio, 56, immigration hold; Bradley Vance, 45, violation not given; James King, age not given, possession of alcohol and children's movie.

One potential felony out of that bunch--failure to register. Whoopee.

A friend of mine lives in an apartment complex and a "registered offender" lives next door. The person the offender lives with, runs a daycare out of their apartment. The police came to visit him in this "sweep". They asked them if they had any kidnapped children! really? Like someone would answer this truthfully! They also asked if they were running a daycare (which they are!) They said, no - that they were just watching friends kids. The police didn't take the kids names or get the names of the parents to verify this or to check to see if any of the kids were "being held hostage" or to notify parents that this is a registered offender. Basically the cops pulled a "Jaycee Dugard" and walked away - laughing.

Called "Operation Vigilance" by Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig, the daylong effort had been planned for two months and involved around 100 officials visiting 174 "targets," and making 129 "contacts."

Apparently, 45 "targets" were visited, but police did not make "contact" with them. Huh?

And hopefully that would include you. If not, a special category should be set up for you. I guess that would include those whose brains are not engaged before they make nonsense statements.....
