During the I-5 fix I plan to change my commute. I live in South Sacramento off Stockton. Instead of heading up the 99, I plan on going north up Stockton to Broadway and take Broadway all the way in. Hopefully, that will save a few minutes

We typically travel down Madison to 80 then to CCF and around to P Street (my husband) and the 10th Street Exit on the W/X (for my commute). On the way home we both travel E Highway 50 to Sunrise and then over the bridge.
When the Fix takes place, I will be normal in the morning. However in the evening I will be traveling over to J Street up Fair Oaks, all the way through to home. My husband will take the Fair Oaks/J Street route both ways to get to his job on Alhambra. Our only sticky spots should be right around Fair Oaks and Watt, maybe Fair Oaks and Howe. Those intersections are always a mess. We’re both nervous about Highway 50 and its congestion. I don’t want to be NEAR the CCF transition ramp from W 80. Kristi - Fair Oaks |

I plan to pray, get up earlier, drive on surface streets if Highway 99 is too backed up, cuss inside my car about something I have no control over and rejoice when it's over.

In response to the high gas prices and upcoming I-5 construction, my wife has been riding her bike to work. From our home in Greenhaven, it takes her about 35 minutes to get to work downtown. She’s got a rack with saddlebags on the back where she keeps her lunch and shoes. She only fills up her car now once every three weeks, and she goes to the gym less because she gets her aerobic exercise daily. Her main motivation, however, was the upcoming I-5 construction. Once June 1st hits, it will be quicker to bike than drive.

Why post my secret route? So everyone else can use it too? Oh no, I'm keeping it to myself.

I am so glad I don't have to worry about this...it's gonna be fun to watch all the pissed-off people on the news...

Yep, me too! And if I had a good alternate route, not so sure I would be giving it up! |

I commute in on Highway 50 westbound to the 10th street exit. By arriving at the News 10 Studios on Broadway after the peak commute time I hope to avoid the backup. I'll find out for sure Monday morning. Good luck everyone.

I live in Roseville and commute by means of I80 to I5 and then exit at Broadway. I currently spend part of my week on site and the rest of the week, I work from home by remote. I am very fortunate that my company will allow me to work from home for the entire extent of the project.

I still trying to figure out how to detour around the work to get to Elk Grove from Woodland. Looks like my best bet is to go through downtown Sacramento then back onto 5?

I am in the same boat you are. I have to go on Sunday. I have been told 80 west then 80 to Reno back to 5. But I was hoping someone would confirm that and how much longer that route may take. |
