I understand Arnie is calling for "fees". That's just a run around Prop. 13. He should be recalled along with the Legislature and Senate.

what a crock! Of course the answer will be in raising taxes. Heaven forbid that something will actually be cut.
Hey Mr. Arnold. Hear is a great idea. Bring me to your office and let me look at all the programs and then I'll tell you what to cut out of the budget. Better yet, list all the programs that our tax dollars are paying for and let the people tell you what ones to cut. I can guarantee if those were exposed to the people, things would change because when it came to voting time everyone would be voted out of office!!

get real. recall?? How about everyone of them get voted out of office. People want the governor removed but continue to keep the crooks in office. Until your thought process changes, this state will continue on as is. IT WON'T MATTER WHAT GOV IS IN OFFICE.

Well the bubble burst, the bills come due,
You may be feeling blue.
You have to increase your "steady" revenue
or you have to cut your expenses. The public faces this daily.

I hear arson is the solution of choice for impending foreclosures. What about the state fiscal crisis?

I'm going to get thrown off here.

The FIRST thing to be 'cut' should be the raises the California law-makers voted themselves. Ratchet those back to what they were five years ago. That won't take care of all of the short-fall by any means, but it certainly can not hurt.

If these law-makers can't 'get by' without a substantial up-tick in their pocketbooks, then it stands to reason that the ordinary Joe can't either --- and, Joe can't vote himself a raise. Joe has to EARN it. It does not appear to me that these law-makers have earned their base salary, much less a raise. We have not had a balanced, or on-time budget in ... gee, I can't recall when the last balanced budget was passed.

1. Since when did throwing more money at schools accomplish anything?
2. The "rich" pay the vast majority of taxes. We could increase yours to help, I'm sure you would agree. Someone has to pay for more services.
The public voted for more expenditures, anyway.
3. Cutting off ALL welfare and programs for only 3 million illegals is insufficient. Maybe 3 to the third power would help.
4. How many times do we get a new governor to tell us that we can't continue to spend more than we take in. How do YOU deal with this at home?
5. What services do you want cut?

He says he won't raise taxes, and if that's the case that means he'll dig deep into schools and programs that the young and old rely on. Everything the government does always affects the young, old, and poor. He can afford to bypass raising taxes because Bush will do that again before he leaves office. All of you who voted for Arnold just because you liked his movies should "Terminated." Then again it doesn't matter who's in office, the results are always the same..."screw the public."

I think it's about time California looked at the reality of our situation.
We are spending ourselves out of existance.
I know of, and I'm sure everyone knows of, several businesses that are leaving California or have already left because of the taxes they have to pay.
And, I also know of people leaving the state because they are fed up with being taxed to the poor house.
We need to stop spending money we don't have and start realizing that without changing the present system, Califoria is going to be BK. If that happens, you can kiss all those great perks goodbye. It won't be pretty when there are thousands of people left out on the streets because their pension funds simple aren't there. Stop making the working people pay for the perks of a select few!!!
Yes, I am talking about the teacher's union and the state workers.
I heard on the news this AM that 90% of the money we "Spend on education" goes to the employees. I'd like to know of one other surviving business that spends 90% of it's income on salaries and perks. It simple makes no sense and doesn't work. What people think the money is being spent on and what it is actually being spent on, are two different things. Do you know that when they build a new neighborhood, it's the home builder to pays all the money for that park and those roads and they sewer lines and that school that will be there one day? Then, guess what?
When you buy that house, it's you the homeowner who is actually paying for all those things to be in place. But, due to our governments mentality that there will always be more..... more..... and more to spend, a lot
of those amenities are not being completed because they took that money and spent it elsewhere. WAKE UP TAXPAYERS!! IF WE DON'T CHANGE THE WAY WE ALLOW THE GOVERNMENT TO SPEND "OUR" MONEY, IT IS NOT GOING TO BE PRETTY
hmm

Here !! Here !!! I'm ready to go with you to the governor's office and show him where he can cut.. First thing he can do ~ Put on a hiring freeze for all non-emergency state jobs. I personally know people who work for the state and actually complain that they have so little to do that they are bored to tears and hate going to "work ?" What did I say ?? How long would a real business last if they had people with nothing to do ? One friend of mine, who used to work with me in the private sector, said she can actually complete a month's worth of work, at her state job in 2 days. Is it no wonder we are broke ?

A month's worth of work in 2 days......
I guess I should have said it in this way.
The work she is required to complete in one month, can actually be completed in 2 days.
It's no wonder the state workers can afford to be
gone from their jobs for so many holidays and vacation days and sick days....
If I were gone from my job that much, my desk would be hard to find when I returned.

But the public just got through with voting in 4-5 hefty bonds recently, that have to be paid back, BTW. Money borrowed for spending, spending, spending.

Maybe we'll have to cut down on some of the voters to.

But he still thought it was a good idea to sign the bill for aid to undocumented (ILLEGAL) students?
