judge not, let ye who is with out sin cast the first stone, none of these statements mean anything to the people who are pelting the pagan folk. They cant even respect their own faith, let alone be saintly enough to judge others. Stupidity it seems runs high amongst the people who deem themselves " good " of the faith in the God fearing religion.

Sure would be nice if people like this could find something better to do with their time.... Like learn their religion.

Madera my dear, the burning times is a myth. No pagens were harmed in the making of said myth. The only people who were harmed in the witch hunts were women who owned land, broke hearts, or started fudes with the wrong people. Wicca didn't even exist then, and pagenism was virtualy unheard of. Or it was called herbalism and was a widly practiced and accepted service. There is no historical evidence that supports the "burning times" clames of the likes of Dion Fortune, Silver Ravenwolf, etc. Sorry...

I am quite aware of what was, but mostly hiding behind the name of witchcraft or heritic. In my beliefs words take on form when you speak them, lies also harm as well in any form spoken. wether it is condeming some one of a false hood, the memories still remain and so does the lie that they died for. And some so called " witches" were executed as well. Just for different beliefs, how about all the pagans who died under the swords of " god fearing" christians or catholics? So the term never again the burning times is a saying for all who were killed because of non comformation, and hidden under the term " witch"

How many people have died under the witch name because it was a convenient way to dispose of people that were inconvienant because they impeaded some one elses rise to somthing that they desired, or just because they were flat out "different" or strange. Its common even now. My neighbor calls out witch when I pass by, intended as an insult. you would think after so many centuries they could have found some other term? Back in the day, the cry witch could indeed end your life. That was a great point made Madera!

Please do not tell me what has been handed down to me from generations, just because it isnt in your" text book" dosent mean it dosent exist, My folks were from the appalachins, and full of the old ways, and most wouldnt fit into the catagory, wiccan, voodoo or otherwise. gosh, ya get people who think they know it all preaching to every body else, even in our own kind. Mutiny captian, and check mate.

You would really think all this hatred would eventually go away. Well, we could hope for it to go away, but as long as their are people who think they are better than others, this will happen. It is sad that people cannot stop and look around and see that they are claiming to be good and not evil and then everything they say and do is manifested by hatred and therefore is evil. Us pagans do not do this to christians or anyone else, most of us have been christian at one point or another, most of us know their religion even more than they do themselves. I pray that one day, preferably soon, people will learn to love and stop discriminating against others.
I feel for all of you who have experienced and acts similar to these. Remember we must stay strong or else this will never go away.
Blessings and Light, Luna

I agree with Luna and all others supporting the pagan religion. It's expessially hard for pagans in West Virginia like myself. Most all christians are the kind that know nothing about paganism but yet find the need to discriminate. for instance one time i was walking down the mall and a lady with a kid walked by me, the kid said "Mommy look its a witch" although me being a male and all i hadnt really noticed i dressed to look like a witch. But anyways i look at the lady and say "You know not all witches are bad" the lady grabs her kid and storms off like i was going to hex her. That my freinds is the kind of discrimination that ticks me off. People who feel the need to cram their religions down other peoples throat have no right to even speak to other religions. and of course i could go on all night about this but i will stop here
blessed be

At least I know I'm not totally alone on this.
Over centuries there were many reasons women were falsely deemed witches. Some are never even hear of. One of these happened when a man who was committing adultery found his mistresses clitoris. Most likely he was angry with her or his wife found out, so he called it a "devil's teat" and had her executed.
Things like THAT dont happen now, but things almost that bad are happening daily. Pagan shops are being burned down, veterans are having trouble getting the pentacle on their grave stones, discrimination in general. Most people think pagans worship satan, while most of us do not even believe in satan. Some think we sacrifice people and animals in our rituals, but we don't do that either. I think we should strive to show what witches really are, not the evil green hags that are portrayed in cartoons. We are everywhere, from students to CEO's and everywhere in between. We should try to show that we are positive, we can help and heal, we can open minds and encourage peace and harmony among all beliefs if we get a chance. Hopefully people will learn that hatred and discrimination will gt us nowhere, but a little peace and love goes a long way.
Blessed Be

Mutiny captian, and check mate. Call your beliefs whatever you like, it makes no difference to me. The point I was making was that the "so called" witches burned during the inquisition were not pagans. They were christians who were in the wrong place at the wrong time, or had something that someone else wanted. I am aware that Gerlad Gardner didn't create paganism, but he did assemble wicca from the remnants of the pagan religions of western europe (of which we know almost nothing), and he did this in the late 40's. Being a little bit sensitive arn't we?

ya know Gerald Gardener was a great bud of Crowleys, it is said by a few people in the order that gardner and L.Ron hubbard had a running bet on who could create a religion that would attract the most followers... both were members of the golden dawn and , or the O.T.O at one time, funny, huh?

I didn't think Gardner and Hubbard knew each other. I've heard that the famous comment by Hubbard was that if a person wanted to get rich they should start a religion. I guess he was right.
