You mean like exposng children to Sunday school teachers that kill their daughters friends or priests tha molest children....hmmmmm. I've heard of wars and atrocities committed in the name of religion. I've never heard of anyone in a spiderman costume molesting anyone or starting a war or inquisition.

Better not have any Christmas trees and Easter eggs. They came from Pagans as well.

Actually, if you take away all the holidays and traditions of pagan origin, you're not going to have much of anything left. Fireworks on July 4th? Nope - they were originally used in celebrations in China to ward off evil spirits. Thanksgiving parade? Nope, they began as pagan religious processions. Valentine's? Lupercalia.

If you don't want to participate, fine, do your own thing. But don't "demonize" those who don't believe or don't care about your religion.

halloween is anciently known as a day where a veil between hell and the world is at its thinnest and spirits come and knock at your door telling you to give them the best of your food or they will murder you thus the saying "trick or treat" do you really want your kids 2000 years later being symbolic spirits threating to kill their elders for candy????

Just a comment on the schedule of Xtreme Fest. The event will start at 3pm with free games for children. The play will begin at 7pm that afternoon.

Thank you. Think people think. Halloween encourage evil? Hardly. Halloween may promote cavities and the business of dentistry but evil? The religious mindset is a funny thing. Prove to me that Halloween is any worse than Christmas. Young people steal Halloween decorations like they vandalize Nativity set-ups. Are candy bag snatchers any worse than purse snatchers on Christmas Eve? I'll bet more people commit suicide or are killed at Christmas by guys in Santa suits than anything Pagan in October.

Don't let your simple belief in religion cheapen your existence. You're wasting an incredible opportunity to get lots of free candy if you're a kid and the only perfectly suitable time one can dress-up as a complete slut or idiot and be the life of the party. Live a little!

The scariest thing about Halloween is your ignorance and lack of education. I hope you're only twelve so you can try to rescue your brain from complete deterioration. What a moron!

EL PASO CITIZEN, that is in no way right the way you speak about these things. What is wrong with you? Does God teach you to be disrespectful to others, use the language you use, and carry so much anger inside? I am wowed that you call yourself a child of God and not Satan! Set the example, that is what we should do. Respect and love all like you love yourself regarless of what they believe in. God loves us all no matter what we do. It hurts Him more than gets you angry. Don't put God to shame with your bulgar ways, please stop being so rude and ugly.

If you think Halloween is evil do not celebrate it; not by going trick or treating or by organizing a party or a play at your church.

I have been in El Paso for just over two years. The above mentioned 'person' is the flip side of the City Council. Maybe he/she should mate with Beto O. to produce a religious fanatic who smokes pot. Ignorance on one side and Liberalism on the other, or, perhaps they really are the same thing.

It is "nice" to see El Paso Times being used, by mostly evangelical christians, to promote their businesses and the idea that their way to celebrate Halloween is better than others. If evangelicals are so against Halloween why are they trying to gather us at their churches to celebrate this evil holiday?

Only with Satan but if you want to play stupid and ignore the facts then go ahead and celebrate Halloween but don't expect for GOD to accept your devil workship behind in to heaven when you die go knock on Satan hell door for mercy.
Actually the Stupid one here would be you. Halloween is Christian being the Eve before All Hallows day and 2 days before All Souls day. It was a Catholic attempt to subvert other celebrations which wer also held this time of year.

Who is trying to gather who in churches? Why is it an evil holiday? It case you been notified we live in a this society called capitalism. You need to make money and allowed to make as much as you want and you are only required to pay taxes. Most holidays have an economic agenda in case you didn't notice.

Please read the article and you will be able to answer your first 2 questions yourself and about living in a capitalist society I AGREE with you. I am only asking honesty from those "spiritual leaders" that spoke to this newspaper about the "evil" behind celebrating Halloween and that their way is better than that of those families that make their plans for this day on their own. Enjoy Halloween as you please! We have bigger problems to address than this; el pasoans are not as dumb or as ugly as some people think.

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Aquarius

Yesterday you had a good control over the workings of your mind, but sadly that isn't the case today. Instead, your thoughts are wandering in every direction except the one you need to concentrate on. The result will be a sense of being disconnected from what's going on around you and possibly even a dreamlike quality to the day. Don't make any decisions while you're like this.
