I believe not ashameds point is that we here on topix are not trying to convert people just get people to be honust about our beliefes and not twist, distort, and at times flat out lie about what we believe.

I dont look at missionaries as out to convert people. They are sharing what they believe to be the truth . Even Jesus was a missionary in terms of spreading the gospel. I see that you are advertising a web site so apparently you also are trying to share what you believe. And I would never verbally attack you for it the way so many seem to think it is okay to verbally attack us.

1 Not ashamed, I don't know you and you are new here so as far as I am concerned, we have no history together and can start on a clean slate. I may disagree with some things you say, but please do not take that as an attack or that it somehow means that I'm nasty and don't like you. Agreed? Let me ask you a question. Is disagreeing with some one's religion or even condemning it as false mean that they are "bashing" the religion? |

agreed. I have no ill will toward you or anyone else here. to answer your question disagreeing with my religion is okay. you have that right just like you have a right to believe in what you wish to believe in. condeming it as false is borderline on the bashing. where I have a problem is all the daily remarks i hear from people who assume they know what they are talking about. or when people tell me what i believe as if they know everything about me. Many people have bad information about our church and in many cases false information. I would not attempt to talk badly about any church. Why? because without practicing their beliefs and really being a part of their church I dont know enough about their beliefs to talk badly about them. Im not coming from the stand point of someone who was raised in the church. my mother is baptist my father episcopaleon. I converted to this church when i was 15 years old. reason being that to me it is the only one that made sense to me. all of the doctrine makes sense to me. Its not easy being mormon on the east coast. my kids have actually had friends in our neighborhood whose parents were fine with letting their kids come over to play until they found out we were mormon. I recently had someone to tell me that I do not believe in Jesus christ. nothing could be farther from the truth. so you see when people spread lies about our church it hurts. it hurts not only me but my kids as well.Im just trying to understand why people feel the need to try to disprove our beliefs or treat us badly because of our beliefs. i would never ask you to convert to my faith. however I do ask you to be tolerant. and you never know just as i might learn a thing or two from listening to your view of things you may learn a few things from me as well. |

1 How about if they they have a website set up to point out the wrongs of the LDS faith? Or how about if they hand out Anti-Mormon pamphlets at pageants or Temple openings? Or how about if they give seminars to others to teach them how to witness to Mormons to save them from their erroneous ways? Don't you think you are being just a little bit disingenuous? You aren't just disagreeing you earn your living by it. So why aren't you honest about what it is you really do? To tell you the truth it turns my stomach. I think us Mormons should start a ministry and become the 'Anti-Anti Mormons.' |

1 Interesting. I would think that if you believe your church to be the one true church, you would want to see me converted. Tolerant is one thing that most people misunderstand now-a-days. To be tolerant of something means that you must disagree with it. You do not tolerate something you accept, because you accept it! In my case, I definitely tolerate Mormonism! ;-) Good, we are at the same place then. I am sorry that you have gone through the things you mentioned above. We have gone through similar things in that we have lost LDS friends and playmates for our kids too. When I teach in Churches, I make a point of telling them to be nice and not to tell Mormons what they believe. After all. You are the World's foremost authority on what you believe. From my experience, I find that some Mormons do not believe certain LDS doctrine, but that is another issue. |
would you like to show were I accused you of anything? I will post my response again to show that I never said anything about you Larry said "I believe not ashameds point is that we here on topix are not trying to convert people just get people to be honust about our beliefes and not twist, distort, and at times flat out lie about what we believe." Notice that I did not say YOU or give any other name. I simply said what I thought Not Ashamed was referring to. Now if you think you have done the things I mentioned that is up to you. I NEVER said in my post that I was refering to any person. |

I never said that I would not like to see you convert to my relgion. I said i would never ask you to convert. that is a decision that is made through careful thought prayer and pondering. not a decision that should be made just because i told you it was true. I believe people have to learn the truth of things for themselves not because of any convincing from others :) |

Let me add to my last post I have asked you in the past if you thought whatthe Tanners do in telling outright lies about what the Early LDS Leaders have said is ok. I gave you several times the example of the removing 200+ words from a quote that said the exact oposit from what they claimed. You said you answered it yet I have never found the answer. Would you care to anwer again?

Well, I guess I accused Keith Walker of what he really is....and by his own website. I could give other examples of his bigotry and bias found on the web. I don't mind calling a spade a spade.
So...Keith, did you make it to the Rexburg Temple open house? If not...too bad, it's a gorgeous Temple of God. http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/rexburg/ Where is your next LDS adventure take you so I can be sure and watch for you? |

Topix thread
Evidence Ministries Answers Fox News 21 Questions About Mormon Faith This ministry is Keith Walkers On this site Keith Walker gives his answer to what the LDS church believes. He twists what we believe from his view point. This would make him telling at least a half truth as he does not let the LDS Church give its teachings but rather goes into why he does not believe what the LDS Church said. |

Feel free. Bigotry? Hardly. I spend more time defending Mormons than you'll ever know. I'll be in Manti, Utah for the Mormon Miracle Pageant in June. We go every year. You should come. I'm sure we'd have a nice conversation.:-) I'm easy to find. I'll be wearing my hat. |

I know. I should have been more clear about *when* he said what he said. I thought he would remember. Sorry for any confusion. |

Please show me where I have twisted what LDS doctrine teaches. Note that I did not ask you to show me where I was wrong on what you believe personally. Like I have stated before. Many Mormons do not believe certain LDS doctrines. How is quoting the LDS Church not letting the LDS Church give its teachings? If I have misquoted something, please show me. |

I decided to go to keith walkers web site to see what he was saying about us mormons. while there i had the opportunity to read an article entilted the LDS woman. puleeze. I am a woman and i can tell you im far from perfect and my church nor husband expect me to be. i thouroghly enjoy my callings within the church i do not work outside the home my husband does an excellent job of providing for our family and the decision of how many children to have is left strictly up to the individual. my church nor husband have ever pressured me to have more children however in my opinion children are wonderful and if i could afford it i would have 20. that article was just another one of many that completly misrepresent me as a person.
