censorship in this forum

Any rational opposition to radical homosexual positions are summarily deleted from such topics as "Fired professors stands in firm support of gay marriage," despite the fact that the topic appears in a supposedly LDS discussion.
In a number of the other discussions, rational LDS points of view also immediately disappear. |

The Topix.net office is in San Francisco. What do you expect? I've never seen LDS posts deleted, but I have seen almost ALL of Keith Walker's posts deleted. For a long time he was one of the most eloquent speakers against Mormonism. He has been gone for months and I suspect that he has been banned. I guess Topix doesn't support the 2nd amendment. At least not on their forum. Such a pity. |

You noticed Walker's comments deleted too. Interesting. I mentioned something about that last week. Too bad too. He gave Mormons fits! It was fun to watch. He was always nice about it though.

So what, the LDS Church is famous for engaging in censorship. Even of its own writers. If you study early publications by LDS officials and then read reprints of them many years later, you notice the changes. 1000's of changes have been made in the B of M, alone, let alone the D & C. When are you folks going to remove the wool from your eyes and see how you are being deceived by your own leaders. |

Hitler, exterminated, 1000's of homosexuals in the Concentration Camps as well as Jews, and gypsies. Radical right wing extremist religious organizations are no better than the neo-Nazis, who advocate violence against anyone different from themselves. Why is it that the LDS Church which suffered so much persecution in past years, wants to persecute GLBT individuals today?? Didn't the Haun's Mill Massacre and the burning of Nauvoo teach you guys anything?? Why do you hate? And then attempt to justify it by saying God approves of human hatred, bigotry and prejudice. I would be ashamed to be a membe of your chruch or any other that was not inclusive and taught the un-conditional and non-judgemental love of God. May God have mercy on the souls of modern day Pharisees. |

What do you expect, the Mormon Church, just like other authoritian religions, is a dictatorship, they can't stand to be opposed on anything. You ought to live in Salt Lake City, and then you would see first hand how arrogant their ldrs can be. Ck Salt Lake Tribune archives about the Main St. Plaza controversy and you'll see what I mean. Mormons believe in freedom of speech only when it is their own speech being protected. They think religious organizations are above the law, and above being criticized. Well, when words or actions of their leaders affect non-members then one has the right to criticize. Just like some Catholic leaders did, before the sex scandal in that Church. But why didn't they give psychological tests to candidates for the priesthood so pedeophiles might have been eliminated. |

brian76, how dare you compare our stand on a topic to the senseless massacre of children, women, and families by stupid stupid people following government-sanctioned killing sprees? We as a church don't hate homosexuals. Individually, people choose as they wish but our church does not teach us to hate; only to bear witness to the truth of the Gospel. For that, our members have been tarred, feathered, murdered, run off, and lied about.
You might say "Where did I lie?" Well, you and others have used that lie about pedophiles before. You act as if the only pedophiles are priesthood holders. You obviously once knew the truth, and I suspect still do...holding the priesthood doesn't mean being perfect. There are pedophiles in every church, in every community, INCLUDING I MIGHT ADD the homosexual community. It has nothing to do with church but with choice. So don't you DARE imply that it is the church's fault when members don't live up to the standards taught. And as for comparing Haun's Mill to our lack of sympathy and inability to be politically correct toward homosexuality, well, I can't even say what I want. I try too hard to live as the Savior lived. HE wouldn't condone but I'm not quite able to forgive. Maybe in a millennium or so. |

Bone, thanks for clearing the air.
Here's a good link that tells the truth about the LDS and homosexuality: http://www.sltrib.com/ci_4268212 |

A word of caution for anyone following the above link. The interview quoted makes it very clear that a dialogue took place; NOT a church edict. I quote:
"It's not like they're pronouncing doctrine or speaking for the prophet or the church." |

Here is another one. http://www.mormon.org/question/faq/category/a... |

How did this topic get changed from cencorship to gay issues?
|
|
So have the Anti-LDS comments. Perhaps a disgruntled gay x-mormon anti-christian works at topix? lol |
|
|
Nick, that was funny. VERY funny.
Too bad there is such a thing as a "disgruntled gay x-mormon anti-christian". |

Mormons are evil.
