Now it’s the 2nd fastest growing church in the country. Who knew? All that publicity we keep getting…negative though it may be sure is helping…thanks Anti’s!!! 2008 Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches is now out. According to the National Council of Churches lists Jehovah's Witnesses and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, regarded by many Christians as cults, reported the largest membership increases in a year. http://www.christianpost.com/article/20080220... 's_Witnesses,_Mormons_Fastest- Growing_'Churches'_in_U.S..htm Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons Fastest-Growing 'Churches' in U.S. Mormonism was formally listed under “cults and sects” by the Southern Baptist Convention – the largest Protestant denomination in the nation – but was more recently categorized among “newly developed religions” on the North American Mission Board apologetics page. Here are the top 25 listed by percent of increase/decrease: • Jehovah's Witnesses, 1,069,530 members, an increase of 2.25 percent. • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5,779,316 members, an increase of 1.56 percent. • The Roman Catholic Church, 67,515,016 members, an increase of .87 percent. • Southern Baptist Convention, 16,306,246 members, an increase of .22 percent. • The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 1,443,405 members, an increase of .21 percent. • Assemblies of God, 2,836,174 members, an increase of .19 percent. ~~~~~~~~~~ If you are using the high number of people in the mormon church as your crutch to say it is not a cult..... think again... The Bible says in the latter days many will be led away by decieving spirits..... some will say christ is here or over there....... Dont be fooled by high numbers..... find the truth in the bible Only !! its all you need ,with prayer of course !! good nite hannaah

I don't think these Anti-Mormons know the regulars that are part of this forum and second I do post a lot, part to defend, part because of the friendships that have been established and today it's a good way to take my mind off of the death of my daughter who's birthday is today...a good diversion. The anniversary was April 4th so I try to keep my mind busy to get through this time of year. My husband is in Colorado where my son and I are moving as soon as school is out so I have too much time on my hands. But its great to know I have great friends. Thanks...you are sweet like 'someone who cares' Sorry about your daughter! Hugs Lady!

I am around. I just have some reading and DVD movie viewing projects i try to do on the weekend. I have a 4 at a time Netflix plan. Plus i watched Living Hope Ministries The Lost Book of Abraham film. I was reading a bit out of By His Own Hand upon Papyrus by Charles M. Larson. And i have been reading again In Sacred Lonliness by Todd Compton. And another entitled Reorganized Latter Day Saint Church:Is It Christian?. I do a lot of topic study in books i read. I read more Anti-Mormons than i read pro-Restoration stuff. Todd Compton is the only pro-LDS author i read this weekend. The only pro-Restoration stuff i read was when i used my LDS, and Community of Christ versions of the Latter Day Saint scriptures. We published uniquely different editions after we split in different directions after 1844. LDS have great key word Topical Guide which i use frequently.

I found a good book called: The Lost Bible, Forgotten Scriptures revealed, by J.R. Porter. It's pretty good. I also have books by Margaret Barker on my list. I think I would like to go back and re-read all the books I have already on the Bible and the tampering that has gone on with it. I think I'm going to check into this non-LDS author, Dr. Bart D. Ehrman. I really liked his presentation he did at Stanford University lecture series: (Title) Misquoting Jesus, Scribes Who Altered Scripture and Readers Who May Never Know (non-LDS) Stanford University's Office for Religious Life Heyns Lecture Series Presents World-renowned Bible scholoar and author Dr. Bart D. I thought this was the funniest thing I have ever heard. The Christian Churches are srinking and the ones they labled the cults are growing. Didn't they call the early Christian Church a cult. At least the LDS are in good company.

I have always wondered how the Antichrist was going to trick people into following him......... after watching becky quoting the book the fathers wrote it became obvious to me that people are putting more faith into man written directions than the bible.... so slowly but surely people are becoming dependent on the teaching of men, that are leading people farther and farther from God !!! Now these people truly believe that the things they are reading in the fathers book are of God,so they are following with much determination.......... alas it is a road down a horrible road..........deception is rampant !

[After calculating that church membership would be 265 million by the year 2080:] "We are observing an extraordinarily rare event. After a hiatus [or break] of fourteen hundred years, in our time a new world faith seems to be stirring." – Rodney Stark, "Modernization and Mormon Growth: The Secularization Thesis Revisited," Contemporary Mormonism: Social Science Perspectives, eds. Church growth has slowed immensely. When he said that, the internet was in its infancy, and people did not have the information we have today. When I was on my mission, i didnt have to contend with google. Missionaries today do, and it costs them baptisms.
Why did god take a break for 1400 years? I know the answer, but does that make sense to you? The world was so evil that it didnt deserve the truth? Why would God do that? EVERYONE was evil?

I know the answer, but does that make sense to you? The world was so evil that it didnt deserve the truth? Why would God do that? EVERYONE was evil? Good question...a great one to ask the Lord. I'm not really sure myself but off hand I would say a lot of history was going on to bring about the Lord's design. Maybe the Lord doesn't always give us the answers to everything so we can learn to develop faith. If one goes back to the scriptures and it tells of the bringing together or healing of the lines of Ephraim and Judah one has to wonder how this was done. Is it the merging of two different genealogy lines, a true heir to the throne and the Restoration of the Gospel that happened all in one swoop. I think so but these are obscure prophesies that most are not concerned with nor do they even understand them...yet we know there is to a Restitution of All Things. The LDS Church may not be totally perfect and there are truths in all religions but I have found there are more truths in the Restored Gospel. Does that make us superior...NO!!! It means that we have more of a stewardship to bring others to that knowledge who are seeking it...for the ones who are not seeking we have an obligation to respect and honor individual choices to choose for themselves their own path and seek for all to be friends.

I asked the lord many times, and got the same answer :). If i were living in the thousands of years before or after teh meridian of time, and the gospel is the rock of all happiness and salvation, id think i was a bit robbed.

My last experience with faith and mission groups was a mixed bag. I took the summer off. We were cued up to help with the FLDS and had social workers give out information, etc.

I wouldn't as feel that as the Gospel has been upon the Earth since Adam and Eve. And in the end we will be judged for what is in our hearts and not what membership we have...that membership though could be a means for many to learn how to live a better and more purposeful life. But all in all I believe God is wise and has a grand plan.
