Seen an interview with Merideth Viera and Ted Williams the homeless man with the golden voice and his mother stated that his dad was a Jehovahs witness and she went to the greatest church their in Chicago.....but i suspect that Ted was raised a witness and Jehovah is giving him a chance to get back on track...this shows Jehovahs mercy in that we dont need rice churches etc. but we need to have the right motivation and let god work in our lives so that we can pick ourselves up by the bootstraps...

Are you saying that you don't believe he would have gotten this chance if he had been brought up a Catholic or a Baptist? This really makes no sense whatsoever.

Agreed.
He has been given a golden ticket at a second chance.

it would have been less of a chance, lol. nice to see somebody pulled out of the slums & given another chance, 1 cor 3:6,7 ps: IF he was a jw, would you be upset if he stayed clean?

noooooo....thats not what i am saying....i simply related that he was probably a witness since this forum is about just that...actually ....people of other religions get more breaks since they have no scruples or reservations...in this system things are not easy for witnesses since satan is always looking for ways to stumble and make things harder for us....witnesses that is.....but he gives good luck to his favored children...

LOL!
Guess another child abused by the Jehovah's Witnesses that turns to alcohol and drugs.
How shocking!
He and his mother credit her BAPTIST church of more than 57 years with providing her with the courage to deal with his addiction.
Nothing positive about the JWs, as usual grasping at straws.

On another not best of luck to Ted Williams, and his golden voice!!

Would I be upset? Definitely not. Where did you get that idea? I just thought it odd that it was implied that he was given a second chance because he was brought up as a JW. That is a bit strange, don't you think? Why should his being brought up as a JW have anything to do with his being given a second chance?

Excuse me? People of other religions have no scruples? Are you serious, or do you live in a box? There are good and bad people in all groups, including the JWs. JWs are not better than anyone else, and there are just as many scumbag JWs as there are in any other group.

Yeah but you could tell she was married to a jw she was all worried about how it looked to her family and friends him holding that sign and being homeless I actually felt sorry for the guy and could see she was not a great mother to only care about how it look for herself.. I thought she was selfish

Would like to add (raised as a JW and still active after 59 years). During the hippy movement, a Catholic girl was abondoned by her parents for getting involved with hippies. When she almost died in the hospital from complications from a miscarriage, a fellow called my mother who befriended this 18-year old and we took her in. Her own parents refused to even visit her in the hospital. I do not think that making comments that Ted's mom made is *owned* by any race, religious belief or gender. According to Ted's ex-wife (not a JW), he just wasn't there for the kids and the grown kids still have some resentments about this. It is a price this man has paid for getting involved first with over-drinking and then the drugs. It is very sad but I for one cried when I saw the video and cried more when I saw the clean-shaven man so grateful for the opportunities he is being given. My sincerest wish is that he seek a good therapist so that this outpouring of jobs and overnight success does not do harm to him, to his inner core. I also hope that he gets to have a really good relationship with his children and grandchildren. What is, IS. You cannot go back and change things but he can have a decent life now and set a good example. I won't comment about his father's beliefs because I was rather surprised it was even mentioned (I did see it this morning on the Today Show)... surprised since his mom is not a Witness, so why even bring it up since his dad has been dead for a while. I wish the best for the entire family !!!

maybe this girls parents were giving her tough love the hippy movement was full of drugs I'm sure they wanted her to clean up her act. My own mother is helping my drug addict brother right now a JW yet she would not help me when I left an abusive jw who beat me.. They always want ot look good it is always how it looks

see I did not look good a jw wife leaves a very abusive dangerous situation she let me be homeless. Why because she did not want to deal with how it looked it was imbarrassing for her as she put it and they could not deal with how it would look ant the talk, she instead treated the abuser like he was a victim instead of me and my child..A lesson I will never forget one of many things that led me to the path of leaving the jw just one of many...The father was a jw the mother was not but you could see the fathers influence he had on the wife by how she talked.. She brought that up because she was like my mom Imbarrassed of how it would look. Yes perhaps she threw the husband under the bus because she wanted to place blame for how he turned out

i know .....just messing with you all....like messing with sasquatch sometimes....lol...i think the streets taught him more about life and getting along with others and gratefullness than growing up in the truth ever did....says a lot when you have to rely on others generousity ....no matter what religion or background......it would actually benefit him more if less is made of his witness upbringing since that could bring him grief....i hope he remains the same as he is now...because big things will come and i believe his street toughness has taught him to deal with the sharks out there....i wish i had just a measure of his ilk....

Well if he was raised a Jehovah's Witness, his claims that he fell into drug and alcohol addiction because he never had a relationship with God or Jesus Christ makes sense.

Another witness to the world, on how destructive the Jehovah's Witness cult is to children.
