muhammad prophesised that islam would split into 73 sects BUT ONLY ONE would go to heaven, hence Allah will sentence to hell the majority of muslims. However muhammad did not specify which one is the right one, hence muslims are living in doubt.

Abdullah bin Amar (RA) relates that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said "Surely things will happen to my people as happened earlier to Israelites, they will resemble each other like one shoe in a pair resembles the other to the extent that if anyone among the Israelites has openly committed adultery to his mother there will be some who will do this in my Ummah as well, verily the Israelites were divided into 72 sections but my people will be divided into 73 sections, all of them will be in the fire except one." The companions asked,'Who are they O Messenger of Allah,' Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "They are those who will be like me and my companions."

The true sect is those who follow the 'Quran and hadeeth'.It is the 4 doctrines that deal with the 'Quran and hadeeth'.It is Maliki,Hanbali,Shafie and Hanafi.
The Prophet also told that if we hold the Quran and the hadeeth, we will guide by Allah/not lost.Allah, told in the Quran:

4:59. O ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you. If ye differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe in Allah and the Last Day: That is best, and most suitable for final determination.

24:48. When they are summoned to Allah and His messenger, in order that He may judge between them, behold some of them decline (to come).

24:51. The response of the believers, when they are invited to Allah and His Messenger that he may judge between them, is only to say: We hear and we obey; and these it is that are the successful.

So, Allah instruct us to follow the Hadeeth as well, to make us clear understanding/explanations of the Quran.[Prophet Muhammad show us the way of the Quran by his actions and sayings].

God know best...

First of all Maliki,Hanbali,Shafie and Hanafi are not sects, they are all sunnis cause they follow the Quran and Hadiths, they are just schools of Fiqh..
And how you are saying that Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) didn't specify which one is the right one?!
of course He did, He said : "They are those who will be like me and my companions." and this means ppl who follow the Quran and the Sunnah (hadiths) which are sunnis of course, Shias don't follow the hadiths cause they say that the companions of the prophet (Pbuh) are infidels!!! so they don't follow the hadiths and also they say that this is not the true Quran and the complete one the "Mahdi" will bring it with him LOL..and the sufis don't follow all the hadiths like what they do in the graves and so on..also the ahmedis,alevis,druze,Qur'an-Al oners and Bábism, all of them don't follow the Quran and Hadiths..
And you said "Allah will sentence to hell the majority of muslims", this is not true cause thank God the majority are sunnis,One billion sunni in the world, 100-200 million shias, and about 300 million all other sects, so the majority follow the Prophet (PBUH) and His companions (RA).. BUT the problem is that a small minority of muslims in general REALLY follow every word in the Quran and Hadiths like those terrorists for example, killing innocent ppl and say this is islam!!! so they may burn in hell too with other sects LOL

And Allah Knows Best..PEACE

hmmm this rises a question, you say that muhammad said: "They are those who will be like me and my companions." And you interpret it as meaning those who follow quran and hadiths. However the hadiths came much later on after muhammad, so if the hadiths did not exist in his life time how could he have meant thst?

I like this question :)
First of all u have to know the meaning of the word SUNNAH (which we take it from hadiths).. Sunnah means anything prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, did or accepted and the hadiths say what did He said, did, accepted and other things as how did he looke like and others about His companions and so on.. so the companions of the prophet (PBUH) are the ones who told us about the Sunnah and also they are the ones who brought us the Quran and they used to write everything they hear from Him and the next generations collected all the hadiths..And of course they did anything He said or did,so when He says "me and my companions" this means (as an example) to pray in the same way He and His companions prayed (cause they knew the prayers from Him)..and by the way we mean by companions, his wives and family too..so for example the Shias came and said that all the companions (who were more than 100,000 including his wives) became infidels after He died except 3 and some say 7!!! so they don't believe in any hadith cause they say that their narrators (the companions) became infidels so they don't pray (for example) the same way the companions prayed who took their prayers from the Prophet (PBUH)..i will give u other examples to know what i mean..
they pray to the graves of their imams, some of them say "in the name of Husain" before they eat or say "O Hussain", "O Ali" and we only say "O Allah",..etc and all of these things prophet Muhammad (PBUH) told us not to do and they don't believe the hadiths! also the most 3 famous things they do which are not acceptable in islam : Taqqiyah (which is to lie to hide their beliefs) which they also do it with us :D, Mut'ah(Temporary marriage) and Ashura (just google the word ashura and enjoy the pictures lol)
And also what other sects do,is not in islam.
So what i meant to say is that these things Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) didn't do nor His companions and ordered us not to do anything of these so Sunnis only do what He and His companions did so the word Hadith means what He ordered us to do,what we musn't do,etc
I hope i clarified this and if u have any questions, just ask :)
Peace Everyone.

YES, you are right! But I thought it was Bukhari who taught the split between Islam into 73 different sects and that only one will have the truth, meaning that millions and millions, MOST Muslims live in doubt and fear.

Wasn't is Bukhari who taught this?

I'm not sure that Bukhari said this but i don't think so but its a Sahih Hadith anyway (means TRUE)
No,no one lives in fear..anyone who follow the Quran and Hadiths will never live in fear..may be the ones who are not sure that they r right 100% can live in fear like many shias who became sunnis but just till they find the truth but unfortunately other shias and sects are sure that they r right without reading or having any proof! but Thank God there is 1 billion sunni and no one lives in fear cause we have our proofs not only from Hadiths but also from the Quran which is common between all sects.
And even if its bukhari or anyone,no one reads this Hadith feels worried cause we already know the meaning of "Me and my companions" cause its very clear to us and the sunnis are the only Muslims who really follow Him (PBUH) and His companions (RA).
The problem is that the Shias don't even believe in this Hadith! and i just wanted to tell them if the companions are infidels and lied about the Hadiths so how about the Quran which the same ppl also brought it for us?!
And Allah (SWT) knows best and may God guide us always and bless us all.

The 1 chosen sect is the Sunnis who follow the Qu'ran and hadiths 100%.

Only those who believe in the hadiths completely will go to paradise.

People who disbelieve in the hadiths will go to hell.

Peace,
Respectfully.

1. of all, there are nos ects in Islam, all Muslims are united and follow Quran.

There are then sunnis and shias who are trying to take charge and distort Islam which is why now everyone thinks that Islam is bad.

There are no sects in Islam.

23:53 But the affair was disputed between them into segments. Every group happy with what it had.
23:54 So leave them in their error until a time.

I hoe you see this verse clearly.

Peace.

No, you're wrong.
Prophet Muhammad will complain to God that people have abanodoned Quran, he will not complain to God that people have abandoned Quran and sunna and hadith, right?

Peace.

now this is getting quite strange... you say that there are no sects in Islam, hence the hadith saying that there will be 73 sects is wrong... also you say that both sunnis and shias are trying to take over islam although they are the largest sects of islam...

Peter, the bukhari hadiths are supposed to transmit the sayings and actions of muhammad as narrated by his companions, so although it is written in the bukhari he is only repeating the words of muhammad

enough42, this man, says that he is just a muslim, not a sunni or shia or even an alevi, he just follow the Quran without hadiths, we call this "Quraniyoon" "Quran-Aloners" which is also a sect from the 73 sects but they r a minority..
They are peaceful ppl but they don't believe in the Hadiths and say that they r man made books and that the Prophet (PBUH) didn't say anything in them! so they don't believe in the Hadith of the 73 sects and they think that Sunnis abandoned the Quran and just read the Hadiths which is not true cause our first book is the Quran THEN the Hadiths cause Allah (SWT) said in the Quran "Obey Allah and the Messenger".
Yes, they are the largest sects in islam, about 1 billion Sunni, from 100 to at most 300 million Shia, and the rest are all the other sects (I think they r about 200 million).
Peace
