1 I certainly don't like them. I had a question, since you used the word 'hate' and you are Muslim. Is hatred for another human being good in Islam? btw, If they were truly 'mentally ill' that would be easy to deal with. Unfortunately they are totally of sound mind. They are to be held 100% accountable for their actions. |

Hi Trisha
Thats a very good question you posed to Muslim girl. In Islam we are taught to love what Allah(God) loves and dislike what Allah(God) dislike. So for example one muslim might say to another "I love you for the sake of Allah" and the responder would reply "May Allah Whom you love, love you in return!". That is because this love and hate for the sake of Allah is not based upon worldly desires but upon the piety of the person or because they are striving to perfect their faith. "...The difference between them is that a person’s love for the sake of Allaah is connected to his love of Allaah; if this love becomes strong in his heart, this love dictates that he will love that which Allaah loves. If he loves that which his Lord loves and he loves those who are the friends of Allaah, this is love for the sake of Allaah. So he loves His Messengers, Prophets, angels and close friends because Allaah loves them, and he hates those who hate them because Allaah hates those people..." -Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid on Islam Q & A regarding When does the love of Allah save a person from punishment? So consequentially those who disobey God's command we dislike them and their action until they correct them and repent to to Allah(God) and strive to follow the straight path be they Muslims or non Muslims. Why? Because they are spreading disbelief, misguidance and corruption on the earth. And Allah knows best. I know very little but hope this helps Inshallah (God Willing). Thank you for your response, Amatullah. If I understand you correctly, then, the answer to my question is 'yes'. That hate is not only allowed in Islam, but it is a command. Allah hates people who do evil on this earth, so good people should hate them also? |

To dislike is a natural emotion that Allah created all creature with. It helps us to defend ourselves and whith knowledge it helps mankind follow God's commands. But to dislike something that Allah loves is tantamount to disbelief.
So Allah loves Muqsiteen [5:42, 49:9, 60:8][Those who act equitably and justly, and judge and make reconciliation among people with equity, fairness and justice] Allah loves Tawwabeen [2:222][Those who turn to rightfulness and recourse much to Him and His Guidance Allah loves Mutahhareen [2:222, 9:108][Those who keep their bodies free from filth, minds distant from dirty thoughts and conduct clean from unseemly acts Allah loves Mutawakkileen [3:159][Those who put their trust in Allah and His Laws after seeking His Guidance, deliberation, consultation, decision making, resolution and determination] Allah loves those who fight in His way against tyranny, injustice, wrongdoings, aggression and transgression,[61:4] These are SOME of the groups of people whom Allah loves so we in turn should love them and their good acts and those who do opposite no we should not love them or their evil or wrongful acts. If one believes that God knows best then how could one opinion be contrary to his while still maintaining that we are believers? |

Sorry for this extra long post. I referenced the Bible just in case you are Christian so that you would have some sources to review. Hope this helps Inshallah (God Willing).

(Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 4:148) 16 You shall not set up for yourself a sacred pillar which the LORD your God hates. (Deuteronomy 16:22) 16 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers. (Proverbs 6:16-19) Exultance for Worldly Desires "Verily, Allah likes not those who exult (with riches, being ungrateful to Allah)." (Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 28:76) Extravagance "Certainly He (Allah) likes not the extravagant." (Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 7:31) Boasting and Arrogance "Verily, Allah likes not any arrogant boaster." (Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 22:38) Betrayal "Verily, Allah does not like anyone who is a betrayer, a sinner." (Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 4:107) Transgression: "Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors.[This verse is the first one that was revealed in connection with jihad, but it was abrogated by another (9:36)]." (Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 2:190) 4 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You. 5 The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity. 6 You destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit (Psalm 5:4-6) Oppression "Verily, He likes not the Thalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrongdoers)." (Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 42:40) Self-Deceit and Betrayal "Allah does not like anyone who is a betrayer, a sinner." (Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 4:107) 31 You shall not behave thus toward the LORD your God, for every abominable act which the LORD hates they have done for their gods; for they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods. (Deuteronomy 12:31) Committing Sin "And Allah likes not the disbelievers, sinners." (Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 2:276) Publicity of Evil "Allah does not like that evil should be uttered in public except by him who has been wronged. And Allah is Ever All-Hearer, All-Knower." (Qur'an: Translation of the meaning, 4:148) 9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; 10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face. (Deuteronomy 7:9-10) 21 Do I not hate those who hate You, O LORD? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You? 22 I hate them with the utmost hatred; They have become my enemies. Continuation...
And from Hadith: Not smiling when meeting people Allah's Messenger (pbuh) said:"Allah hates the one who does not smile at others and looks uncheerful." (Dailami) Obscene words and acts Ahmed narrated: Allah's Messenger (pbuh) said:"Allah hates obscene words and acts." Prodigality and Excess Dailami narrated: Allah's Messenger (pbuh) said:"Allah hates those who practice extravagance and feel exultant." Insisting when begging Abu Na'im narrated: Allah's Messenger (pbuh) said:"Allah hates the insistent beggar." Injustice, Ignorance, and Arrogance Al-Tabarani narrated: Allah's Messenger (pbuh) said:"Allah hates, the unfair rich, the ignorant elderly and the arrogant guardian." The remedy for all these diseases is the love of Allah Almighty, His Messenger (pbuh) and the Pleasures of the Hereafter. Allah's love has many fruits and positive consequences, namely, Allah gives whoever loves contentment and satisfaction and this is one of the graces of Allah in this world. Allah's Messenger (pbuh) said: "If Allah loves someone He calls Gabriel (the angel) and says: I love so-and-so, so you love him. Gabriel loves him, and calls the other angels in Heaven to love that person. They love him, then his love will be made upon earth, and he becomes loved. And if Allah hates someone He calls Gabriel and says: I hate so-and-so and you hate him. Gabriel hates him and calls the angels in Heaven and says: Allah hates so-and-so, so you all hate him. They all hate him, and his hatred is made upon earth and he becomes hated." (Muslim) Sources: New American Standard Bible http://abdurrahman.org/character/qualitiesall... |

I really don't care to seem ungrateful.Sorry. But please, bear with me. If you could, in your own words tell me what human beings, creations of Allah that he literally 'hates'. All this quoting of scripture doesn't really translate into reality for me. From the length of your quotes, it seems that Allah hates a lot of his own creations. Still, what I am trying to understand is that in Islam, you believe that Allah hates his creatures and that those who are supposed to follow Allah must hate their fellow human beings, also. This is the key to my question. So far, I'm getting a "YES". Allah hates some human beings he created and that to be a good Muslim they must also hate those same human beings. But nowhere have you specifically stated so. One word for me would probably be easier for both of us...lol! Does Islam teach that is is right to hate human beings at any time? Yes or no? |

Hi Tricia,
I have told you what the Old Testament says and what the Qur'an says. As Muslims we have to believe in the scriptures given to all the Prophets (Peace Be upon them). The Books that Allaah has mentioned by name, we must believe in by name. These are the Books which Allaah has named in the Qur’aan, i.e., the Qur’aan, the Tawraat (Torah), the Injeel(Gospel) given to Isa(Jesus), the Zaboor (Psalms), and the Scriptures of Ibraaheem(Abraham) and Moosa(Moses). Whatever is unaltered, and verifiable in the Qur'an we accept and since the Qur'an is the final revelation and a clear guidance. My words are meaningless next to the words of our Creator. What is stated above is what I believe and follow with out conjecturing. And may Allah forgive me for my mistakes. Peace. |

So, you will not or cannot answer a simple question? If you are really interested in helping me to understand Islam, just giving me a 'yes' or a 'no' would be great. As it is, I'm getting the message from you that Islam isn't clear enough for regular people to understand. Or that you're afraid to commit yourself to a clear answer. :( |

1 Have you nothing better to do? Look, If this nice Lady say's 'no' Allah doesn't hate anyone and Muslims shouldn't hate anyone, I'll take her word for it. How about you answer my question, thinking might do you good for a change. |
